I am not sure obscure is a good fit for KM. After all, it is my default browser. The following link is to a blog on Tech Republic. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/five-apps/five-lesser-known-web-browsers-worth-trying/1851

I think Johnhell is right. It is a problem with certain settings regarding cookies. I had not myself ever use the permissions for each cookie before. I tried with that on and the second cookie stopped KM. I had to use task manager to get out. I did get the message about KM not ending right upon my next startup. I am not sure if I can do anything about the problem. I did not write the code

I am back home now and using my desktop to view the site in question. I have had no trouble seeing and using the site. I have been able to click on items and go to other pages. I am now on the "let's get your number" page. I can freely move between tabs. I am using beta 2.4 but it has the same engine as 2.5 The only difference between the two versions is the method for calling spe

I am not quite sure what happened to your setup. I don't understand "dragging a shortcut to the desktop". Where do you wish your profile to be located? There are two choices and they are (1) with the program and (2) in your %appdata% folder. Since you have logins for admin and other, it sounds like you need to put the profile in your %appdata% folder or put the entire KM program an

Thanks, JamesD I'm using K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2. Is there much difference between K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2 and K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2dot5_en-US? Charlie It has a newer Gecko engine. Privacy DLL was re-compiled and all of it works. Spell checking is fully integrated. There is a troubleshooting item in the help menu to verify if you have write permission to your profile.

Charlie You did not say which 1.6 that you were using. I do not have chrome, firefox, or Win8 but my beta 2.5 of KM 1.6.0 is very stable on Win7 (32 bit). https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1522294/K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2dot5_en-US.7z Most macros will run with 1.6 versions. If you have a specific one that you are not sure about, just ask here.

The only difference between beta 2.4 and beta 2.5 is the method for calling spellcheck. In 2.4 it is internal and in 2.5 there is a macro. Desga wanted the 2.5 method. I don't remember why.

Maybe I am the last holdout, but KM 1.6.0 beta 2.4 is my default browser. I do have a working "send to" for IE 10. Very seldom do I need it. IE 10 has a great display engine, but for the life of me I cannot figure out the interface. There are 83 files in my user macro folder. I can do just about anything with a couple of clicks.

@ MJG_1 There is a simple way to fix your problem. You can use KM's menu EDIT - CONFIGURATION - MENUS to open your local menu file. The following code needs to be copied and pasted into the local file below the existing text. Save the file and restart KM. The ALT + S will no longer function to bring up the Sessions menu. You may use it in entering text. Note: Any call to &sessions w

@ chris I will try to help, but first I will need some information about your installation of K-Meleon. What version of KM are you running? Did you install the KM or did you just extract the files from a 7z? Where has it placed your profile? You can find the profile location by using the following. From KM menu - EDIT > CONFIGURATION > PROFILE DIRECTORY

I don't do Facebook myself, so I have not seen what their page displays. It may be due to the engine in the version of KM which you are using. If you are using version 1.5.4 it may help to try this beta version: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522294/K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2dot5_en-US.7z

@ Mark It sounds like you do not have write authority to your profile. KM saves your changes when it is closed. They are in a file named prefs.js in your profile folder. You can find your profile folder by using EDIT - CONFIGURATION - PROFILE DIRECTORY. You should not edit prefs.js when KM is running. KM will re-write the upon closing.

I updated the KM 1.6 db+NS with JamesD's unofficial KM-1.6beta2.5 release. On my old PC it still had the tab issues. So I just fixed it going back to the old history file. It holds up better. But still vanishes with me! If I go from tab to tab back & forth one of the tabs will just vanish! No sign of it in the browsers history at all! How many tabs do you have open when this ha

Deadlock found a bug in the SkinSwitch.js file. It seems one toolbar name contains a string of 3 dots. Since I had used the dot as a delimiter, I had to account for that one toolbar. The revised SkinSwitch system can be downloaded from: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522294/SkinSwitch.7z

@ monroe Yes, part of the default user agent comes from ../defaults/pref/kmeleon.js. I think the other parts come from the gecko engine itself. I am old and my memory is not the best, but I think when we used to get engine updates without a K-Meleon version change the gecko stuff would change once the components were updated. I don't think any update changed anything in chrome.

You can check the current user agent by going to this site. http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ It is also in about:config or help - about K-Meleon. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.20pre) Gecko K-Meleon/1.6.0 The General.UserAgent.Override pref holds a user agent that has been chosen to replace the default user agent.

In order to help, we will need to know the exact KM version that you are using. It would help also if you could specify a site where the rounded corners do not display.

The folder says"profiles", and I get the same error message in the 1.6 folder or the 1.7 The folder named 'profiles' is one folder up the tree from where you need the bookmarks.html file. My path to my KM profile looks like this: C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\Profiles\o0ermiq1.default You can find the correct location using EDIT - CONFIGURATION - PROFILE DIRECTORY.

Tony, If I understand you correctly, the small toolbar with two icons is the control for opening a new tab and closing the current tab. If you move your cursor over each icon then a tool tip with information should appear. When you open a new tab, it should be empty unless you have specified otherwise. Focus should go the new, empty tab. Do you still see your original tab on the tab bar?

@JayDee What version of K-Meleon are you using and on which operating system? I just looked at the page and it loaded OK for me. I am using a beta 2.4 version of the official 1.6.0 Beta 2 It is available here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522294/K-Meleon1.6.0_Beta2dot4_en-US.7z Two possible reasons for your non-display are that the website had a problem which is now fixed or that the Gecko

What I am looking for is a minimalistic webbrowser that doesnt need installation and can be run from a network share in all x86 windows environments without a hassle. But I also want to be able to make some modifications like removing certain functions etc... But that comes later. First let me say that I am not a developer. I cannot help you with compiling you own version. There are avai

@ Bill I don't have a portable client for e-mail. I am using Outlook 2007. The string that is in my configure mail looks like the following: "C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE" /recycle I do not know if the "/recycle" is a Windows parameter or an Outlook parameter. The whole thing showed up because Outlook is my default e-mail client. This is everythin

Quote JamesD Well, I found a problem. I was reading the wrong file for the default prefs. The file root\defaults\prefile.js is not the one read by KM. prefile.js is a typo, the used string was: SkinSwitch_Root_Path + '\\defaults\\prefskin.js' ; It was not a typo. I was just plain reading the wrong file. The corrected line in SwitchSkin.js now has "SkinSwitch_Roo

The short answer is that I do not yet know the answer. I had never made that selection in preferences before. I did try it in my beta 2.4 ( my default browser ) and did notice the correct response when closing a tab. The focus went back to the previously viewed tab. It skipped the tab which was to the next left on the tab bar. The only difference in beta 2.4 and beta 2.5 is the method for c

Unless someone finds a problem, I hope these are finished now. Well, I found a problem. I was reading the wrong file for the default prefs. The file root\defaults\prefile.js is not the one read by KM. The correct file is root\defaults\pref\skin.js. So here are corrected versions of SkinSwitch.js and SkinSwitch.kmm. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522294/SkinSwitch.7z Note, to save spac

@ rodocop I have made some incremental improvements in SkinPreLd.kmm and SkinSwitch.kmm macros. Change log SkinPreLd 1. Fixed a missing brace in the code. 2. Now reports the number of items loaded from skin.dat. SkinSwitch 1. Now has direct call to restart.kmm instead of code in SkinSwitch. 2. Changed wording on menu to reflect current mission. 3. Changed wording in mac

@ rodocop I have updated SkinPreLD again. You should use version 2.0 from the same location. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522294/SkinPreLD.7z Added code to skip if skin.dat not present in skin folder. I think I have SkinSwitch and SkinPreLD working together now. I don't actually have skins which require extra or changed prefs, so I am using dummy stuff. All seems to be showing correct.
