Cheers Soeren. Here are some links that may be relevant: - move-mails-across-email-accounts - gmail topic=25414 As for web based e-mail, Lycos is very nice and works well with K-Meleon, I might say the same for Yahoo Classic.

hello, I can compose my e-mails on yahoo, but when I receive some with an image I can't see it. Do you now how I can to fix that problem? Thank you. Ivxx and anyone else, I don't know about the New interface but the following minimal cookie settings work for Classic. Hover over the "blank" preview image then right-click and select Image > View Image. Note the first part of

I had a similar desire to disable all plugins many months ago, now when I look at about:plugins all I see is "No plug-ins are installed". The media player one was very annoying and required a trick to get rid of it. The key is here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin_scanning All details are in the "Disabling the plugin scan" section. Similar advice can be found in this

Nice work Siria. I hope to check out your 1.5.x macro when it becomes available. I still wish 'block images' had an option to leave placeholders, which could then be loaded with a right-click as desired, which is something I did all the time with IE5.

The fish comment amused me (it seems like something the k-meloen logo/mascot might say) and I also thought it was funny to see at least two of the fine folks interviewed say "I'm not a developer" (out of respect for the main developers), thus my light-hearted way of introducing the link. I meant no disrespect to Alex.Tarantul of course, and in fact he noted that more interviews may appea

Good work mhf. Funnily enough I found one in this forum some time ago... http://a.imagehost.org/0962/piwik.gif (select all and the 1 pixel transparent gif becomes visible) Earlier this year I went wild collecting tools and info while manually finding and blocking this kind of thing with my hosts file (rather than just plug in a ready made one). Investigating pages for myself allowed me to

Since this forum section is all about the look of K-Meleon and is likely frequented by graphic designers I wanted to go off-topic for a moment to draw attention to the ongoing discussion about updating the K-Meleon website: http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?2,104086 Input and feedback is being welcomed there. Apologies to Guenter and crew if this seems out of line, but I sus

Hiya James. I have no part in KM's future (I use Win98 and understand very little of what goes on around here administratively) but for what it's worth I can offer you my opinion about the basic look of things, focusing on the front page. I apologise in advance if my criticism seems unkind as I have no wish to discourage anyone. I compared the following three test sites using my default KM on W

Hehe, thanks Soeren. As a rule it seems that if there is a KM icon in the tray then loader.exe is running, and right-clicking on it will bring up the option to close it: http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/gfx/loadertray.png Siria, the reinstallation thing in wiki/TutorialLoader jumped out at me too, the wording may be a simplistic way of avoiding instructions or support for configuring it m

I'm glad that was helpful and I hope you considered picking your own shortcut keys after a peek at desga2's link up above. ;-) And, if you had to reboot I'd guess that you're using KM's optional, problematic memory resident preloader thing (loader.exe) that starts with Windows. Which means you didn't have to reboot, you just had to shut down the loader somehow. http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net

Excellent information and corrections, Siria. Learning new stuff every day: very good point about the menu modifying exclamation point (!). Your simplified code is definitely the best choice by far (I'll edit my posting to reflect this). The trick of adding an ID after a "|" to determine menu order is new to me, but it still leaves a bit to be desired, such as when dealing with a men

Regarding sites known to have targeted links, I didn't think to mention this earlier but when I don't want such links to create new windows I drag the link and drop it on the current tab in order to force it to open in the current window. Your handy new context menu option is surely quicker but they both accomplish the same goal. -more tips-

Hey there mhf, I was in the neighborhood so I provided that 'for example' to supplement James' advice. ;-) I can understand why you'd want this functionality for particular sites, especially if you're already jUGGgling multiple open tabs. FYI, the core issue is that links in web pages use the html tag "href=" (with a page name/address following the equals sign) which by default opens

It's nice to see KM still going strong after a decade! Yep! K-Meleon ~ Not a Lemon! Many thanks to all of the people here who have done and continue to do so much. (I've dug through the forum archives extensively and have come to realize there are a lot of 'graybeards' around here who have done more than many might realize.) And thanks, disrupted, that was pretty much all news to me, an

Hey, neat, Daveski. To be honest, with all of the German brainpower behind the project in recent years I wouldn't mind if it got renamed to K-Mäleon. I'm also for calling someone who has more than ten versions of the browser a K-Meleonaire. ;-) I've used K-Meleon less than a year but I was amused when I found out (while digging through the forum) that it was named in the style of K-Jöfol,

Yes. What follows is an extract from THIS long and informative thread. ;-) Creating your own accelerator hotkeys. If you click Edit -- Configuration -- Accelerators in the K-Meleon menu a text file called "accel.cfg" should open up, which you can edit. If one doesn't open up you'll need to make a copy of the one in the "K-Meleon\defaults\profile" folder and place i

A quick word before thread deletion... U-G-G words are all still banned: strug gle bug gy debug ger sug gest (-ion -ed) jug gle (-ed) rug ged jug gernaut hug ger mug ger chug ger lug ger The U-G-G string is definitely the culprit (banned by itself and within any word) and needs to be removed from the ban list. Apart from the string mentioned and removed by Guenter I'd have s

Cool. K-Meleon (1.5.4) is certainly a gem for Win98, especially with the privacy bar that can easily toggle all resource intensive things like javascript, flash or even images. My everyday PC is a similar low end machine running Windows 98 and I've found there are still many developers creating free, effective and elegant software that run perfectly on a really old PC and OS like mine, pro

Summarizing what might have happened: Some installers remove only the files they originally installed while others remove everything in the program folder. Perhaps KM is the latter kind and perhaps in this case KM was accidentally installed into the root of the Program Files folder and when it was uninstalled it tried to take everything with it. Such things have apparently happened before: qu

I've read about it, but you can block g-tics entirely with your hosts file, as described HERE. You can similarly block a host of other google junk as well (see google section of hosts file here).

I used to get that. A solution is to create a "font.askWhenNeeded" preference and set it to false, disabling all such font promptings... http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?1,80088,80097 http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/FAQ#font_warning

Good stuff, man of many titles! Keyloggers should certainly be an area of concern in the realm of malware and I'm happy to see you mention Sandboxie because I'm a big fan of that amazing software.

Tris, with all that was going on I hope you didn't overlook the extension meister's LINK. Siria, nice work on killanim01.kmm. For the whole page animation killer I still prefer V1 for it's speed despite the risks of setting the browser offline for a moment. I've also noticed that V2 resets the scroll position to the top of the page when refreshed, an unfortunate but necessary side effect. But y

Thanks neophyte! The info on that page finally helped me understand something about K-Meleon's settings that have been bothering me. The default setting for the network.http.max-connections-per-server preference is 8, as desga2 posted. I now realize that prior to using K-Meleon I suppose was used to IE's (and perhaps even FF 1.5's) 2 connections per server. I'm on a slow dialup connection that

First of all, my thanks to Tris for inspiring some creativity and discussion which has been educational and helpful for me. To Soeren, very nice work. Back when you were talking about a standalone compiled exe I began to think it could be invoked using the page context menu, with a quick right-click to keep things mouse only, which could also keep the function in the proper context (on

My old win98 machine slows down with too many animations as well, so the Block-Animation-Button is almost always firmly pressed  But it's true that it doesn't stop them if they are already loaded. Out there (google) they say animations could be stopped by pressing the "ESC"-button, does that work for anyone...? Not for me, pity. ESC equals stop and it stops animations in all bro

Oops. I posted that quickly and without much thought, writing only about what I know (saved login info). What I wrote was essentially true but it ignored the matter of cookies entirely, which is what the question was about. Sorry! Embarassing. Cookies are a blind spot for me and that posting shows it. I never accepted anything but session cookies before using K-Meleon and even now they are deleted
