Didn't leave totally, still use it from time to time, mostly in Linux. My reasons to dislike it: 1. Resource hogging 2. Lagging 3. Page load stalling For fairness, want to state what I like about it, too: 1. Clean interface (pity it's all XUL, should be system API) 2. Universal and really easy support customization and for best extensions (Adblock+, Flashblock, Flashgot, Qui

Yep, history does repeat itself. And this inch by inch drift into dictatorship is what has been called the "serpent's egg" -- it just lays there maturing silently, untill the day it hatches into an able bodied little snake, that'll eat our cozy democracies in a flash if left to its own devices... Notwithstanding, that guy Savage is little too over the top for my taste.

Don't you hate when programs polute %appdata% without asking? But at least it works, there are some others who refuse to even start unless properly installed.

The first thing one should do when you get one of this fockers is stick it in you microwave for like 30 seconds. And it is the work not only of idiots, but also of Big Brother cult followers. It's how brain dead an age we're going through, and nobody seems to care much... oh, well, let's play some more Doom.

Quotedisrupted [...] cnet are arseholes.. they belong to cbs, i remember when both cnet and zdnet were independant.. they were very good sites, once they got bought by cbs.. i knw they were going down the gutter After your rather damning review of browser ratings, I am very inclined to agree.

Excelent idea! Maybe it can be to K-Meleon what addons manager is to Firefox -- one of the main reasons people put up with that resource hog... :O

TY disrupted for all the info. At the other forum, one of the devs/mods said that geckoisgecko.info doesn't resolve to the proper server -- orca, for example, sends you to google if enter this -- so the proper string should have the www. part. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of trying to differentiate this resource form the spambots, but isn't it too much in this case? I mean, the ad

In the thread mentioned in my previous post (above), there have been questions concerning the ownership of the geckoisgecko.info website, proper contacts and how K-Meleon got added. If you have any info on this, please post it. There's also a solution for adding the string to your Browser User Agent String via about:config that I think would be usable by KM: Quotekudos You can add anyt

Quotedisrupted this one is pretty cool: http://pitaschio.ara3.net/ [...] Pitaschio is a freeware which makes it convenient to use Microsoft Windows. Although I very much dislike any thing that consumes my resources on a permanent base, Pitaschio is one of my 'must have' 'always on' utilities, from way back -- even made some usability suggestions at the begining the de

Rebuild your SLAX... QuoteSimply head to Slax Build and add your desired modules. The modules are available on a separate section, organized into categories and fully searchable. After you have completed adding the modules, return back to the Build page to review your distro and the size. If you’re missing any dependencies, you will be alerted and asked to include them. Finally click on the

Quotereeko124 @foobarly I understand what you are saying but my computer doesn't and likely paul's wouldn;t pass the bios cut off. I did get debris linux which is based on ubuntu to boot but it didn't load the gnome panel. So basically it was just a shell that you could do nothing with. I really would have liked it to work but it didn't work. I had ubuntu on my laptop and did

Tried your module already, Fred, but didn't manage to make it work. Slax runs OK, I even got my laptop's proprietary drivers as a module, and they seem to be working, but when I go to switch users, the root shell is restarted. I tried the /bin/init 3 route, but for some reason my computer locked up before I could finish entering the root login password... I've exhausted my system t

@reeko124 Sorry, didn't notice you question earlier, but I have a lot in my hands these days. About the best learning distro, although SLAX is USB friendly and it feels really easy to start doing things with, it is based on Slackware, it is intended to be a LiveCD in the first place and it has a lot of non-conventional -- even in 'nix term -- options. My advice, coming from a

@disrupted: Just to clear my head, I addressed you as high-profile, 'cause I like to believe that what we have here at K-Meleon General is some form of meritocracy coated direct democracy, and no matter what you say, your merit is evidently much greater than mine. But I dig your free thinking ways even more; thanks for being around...

Reporting: for me, it was a no go following Fred's procedure -- I got a working browser frame, but never any content, not even a blank page. Tried with a fresh copy (new profile) also... And then I had a crash, so my priorities diverged greatly.
