If legacy support comes, it will be for win2000, can't really imagine it for 98. The number of surviving systems is dropping more and more towards zero, so hardly worth all the work. Unfortunately copying some js-code into a macro can only manipulate a page *after* it has finished loading fully. From my (limited) understanding the pre-load blocks for JS etc. have always been built into the engi

8 Extract macro and skins from cookieculler+button.7z from K-Meleon Extensions into K-Meleon Root Folder. As always make sure to maintain the same folder structure as in the zipped file. kmm-files go into "k-meleon/macros" folder, and the bmp-image into "k-meleon/skins/default" folder.

Ha, but that thing looks exactly like our KM privbar, just with other icons, but also with the handy right-click options! :D Will try it in the future when my machine breaks down and forced to use a modern puter which can run 74  (just not expecting dorian to still be around so actively as now, so no chance then for new system features). But in general I'm already very happy with our own p

just a little new feature wish  In a few special cases it would be nice to have a CSS Blocker in the privacy menu if possible, similar like those for cookies or scripts, and perhaps objects and DOM. Currently I only have a css-file-toggle after loading, on a privbar button, using it happily and often. For example it works wonders to reveal hidden stuff without needing to load tons of scrip

This is probably the only forum of the moderated sort where spammers aren't deleted, but get talked to, LOL! Oh well, guess KM has always been considered a bit quirky

I keep doing a backup in steps as I figure things out or make changes ... so I always have several to go back to. Whow, now that is very wise (and very rare) - 100 points to you for this! :)

Tsss.. and there I thought of course he had already exchanged your special useragent-macro with the version from KM1.6, after a previous posting told him to do so. Must admit I didn't read all of the previous exchange, only a few posts back. Can you confirm that the profile isn't lost, only has to be copied over again, or is there something special about it in 1.8 too? He did delete the wrong prof

It's not that difficult really. KM can work either in portable mode, that stores the profiles inside the program folder, which usually is write-protected, so changes will be forgotten. Or KM can work in default mode, that stores the profiles somewhere in c:/users/callahan/... (or similar). That place can be overwritten and keeps the new settings. The mode can be switched by creating or dele

OK ... yes I missed that ... I deleted the correct one and restarted KM v1.8 and all my settings are gone. Is this what was supposed to happened Actually - yes  But of course, nothing is gone! It only looks so until you copy over the contents of your old profile folder into the new one. First make a backup copy of your whole "profiles" folder, in a safe place. Then look insi

No, I wrote to delete the file "profile.ini" in the KM folder, NOT "profileS.ini" in the profiles folder, which you deleted.

Okay, using the KM menu is too complicated... Well then, trying my luck too, since you do know this: I go to Program Files / KM folder... So you have 2 folders for your old and new KM versions, and can look inside? In the new KM folder you find a file "profile.ini"? In the old KM folder it is not? If so, remove this file in your new KM folder, then restart the browser.

Oh... not exactly what I had in mind, but if it works, cool :) Actually I do not use privoxy or anything, and still only get "page load errors" when using a single word for searching. Anyway, still going to post this too: @dorian: Just about every new user riddles about this, since the wording in the pref tab sounds a bit misleading. It's probably too late for this version with all

Well known and easy to solve, but since this is getting too much off-topic here, being general how-to stuff instead of special 74RC related, perhaps it should better be discussed in a separate thread :)

Whow, that was fast - and you even like it, thank you :-) I'll have to finish it some day, if I remember right just a little bit menu polishing needed yet, but for now just a tip: Open the file stylescriptia_v5.kmm with an editor (notepad, notepad++, whatever), search for "browserstart" and set this line to false: $_StSc_functionwrap="false"; It was a test for debuggin

Can't believe this thread has been dead for three years... Can't believe how much of it I've already forgotten again... And can't believe it took me that many *years* to notice that Shift+LeftClick on a link opens the Save-As popup, if the mouse accelerators are set to the "SeaMonkey" way! Always had set the Firefox-Way because it opens links in the background with a middle-c

I'm simply using a middle-click. The Firefox way, it's a setting. How to: http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/FAQ#mouseaccels Thinking about it, looking at that table, Seamonkey way is far better! Have just switched myself! It additionally allows to use Shift+Left for "Save Link As", wish I'd noticed that years ago :D

Sure, in general it can. But unless you have accidentally JS blocked, it could be that there's still that 256-character-limit for bookmarklets, that was valid in the old versions. No idea if it's still valid for KM74 though, can't test it on my old machine. If so, you'll have to work around it with macros. But perhaps you really have only JS blocked?? Do you know the privacy bar? It's my favori

@guenter: Last time I looked up new versions of win98-kernelex the development was long since dead (just like KM seemed a long time). So my current version was still the latest. No, I never tested if "any other VC10" tools run with it. Chances are some will and others not, as usual. I did test KM74, just yesterday 74RC, and this one does definetely NOT start on 98se anymore, with or wit

Don't know about a guide page, but doubt if it's necessary. My impression was always that 1.6/1.7 run nicely out-of-the-box on win2000+earlier XP systems? Then reading the forum after the first 74-betas it sounded like there had been a severe jump in sys requirements between 1.6 and 74? But no idea, perhaps that was only in the first 74 versions?

Very happy there is finally a new "official" version on the homepage, thank you! After all those years, and everyone had long since lost hope... :) :) :) Looking at it, there are now only versions KM74 and KM1.5.4 left on the main page. That got me thinking: Considering KM's reputation, there should be a hint about min. system requirements. It's now starting with XP-SP3 if I read the

There we have different experiences. I'm using the hexed Flash9 plugin and this works perfectly at least for youtube videos, which I watch nearly exclusively. No need to stop them before the end, always play them out fully. After the end, the cached file-size still shows zero, until I close the video page or kill it's flash objects. Then the full size is available in the cache and yes, then I usua

*sigh* oh yes, do I wish too! 1) Still riddling myself too, but in *some* cases it seems to help to use a full 3-part domain in the host file, e.g. "www.daserste.de" instead of only "daserste.de". Only effective after new browser restart, if at all. But the long version doesn't seem always necessary, no idea why, just trial-and-error... 2) Hmm, only chance seems to open a

Some day you'll have to give in and try kernel-ex too ;) No black strips here with kernelex and KM1.6beta26 :) Until then try if some special css blocks might help, but requires some skills... or perhaps play the videos finished and then open them from windows temp cache again with a standalone player... or manually change the adress each time from "youtube.com/watch?v=xy" to &qu

Ah but sure you can take the credit, you did all the work!! An idea alone is easy, the hard part is finishing the work ;-) And no, my own version was never published for exactly that reason, as usual it kept growing, and growing, and growing into one of those monster macros, ever growing but never fully finished. Basically it does work for my own needs, but menus etc. are way too messy yet for

Perhaps Dorian fixed it already with the latest updates?? My own last download was the slightly outdated KM74beta4_0, and that one contained a wrong "skin.js" in the Aura main folder. It's still the old *Phoenity* version from 2008, so no wonder! The name is stated inside when opening it with a text editor. Wouldn't necessarily be a prob, but Aura seems to use different toolbar names

Favicons: if it's still the old 1.6 bug, some fuzzy memories: I thought it had something to do with an incorrect tab counter, caused by broken pages somehow, that's also causing that 'chain' reaction. When I close the broken-page-tabs, the chain is fixed. Not sure if it had to do with restored sessions, but I thought having read that 1-2 years ago one of the other developers mentioned to have fixe

A little misunderstanding: that old sessions bug had nothing to do with a crash. Of course it's perfectly normal that only after a page has fully loaded it gets stored, regardless how the browser was closed. I understand most users deal with sessions only after a crash, but that old bug I meant happened also when opening regularly saved sessions (with a name) after regularly closed browser, in KM1

There is no change in the session plugin, except an experimental support of "browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand" which doesn't work. I don't know, when it gets started but from time to time KM doesn't save session (prefs.js is cleared from 'previous session' prefs) or session gets cut down to 1 or some tabs from full list. No idea, but could it be this happens when restoring OFFl
