Ok, I'm about ready to give up on K-Meleon.
I tried Comodo IceDragon and it seems to be
way more stable than K-Meleon.
(Comodo IceDragon uses Gecko)
(Comodo Dragon uses WebKit)
LOL... it took a little trial and error,
but I finally got it to install and run
on Windows XP SP3 (my Win7 hard drive crashed).
Sidenote: Getting back to Win7 isn't real high
on my priority list r

Putting a checkmark in
"Cache website icons on disk"
does absolutely nothing.
In version 75.1, it doesn't even create
the "infamous" IconCache.dat file.
And I do mean... infamous, because it's
always been "buggy" in the past.
(hence the reason for it's elimination)

I've been using K-Meleon for quite some time now.
(since version 1.5.4)
When I upgraded to version 75.1, my bookmarked favicons
disappeared when I cleared the HISTORY data.
I experimented several times to ensure that it was HISTORY
and not CACHE, COOKIES, etc.
It looks as though favicons are stored in the
"places.sqlite" file.
And clicking either...

No I do not have it set to load any "remote" web page.
It loads a "local" html file which is totally blank.
Such as...

<head>
<title></title>
</head>
<body></body>
</html>
And no... I do not have any extension like RoboForm installed.

Here's what I tried, and I think I may
have found the cause of my problem.
I stopped using K-Meleon for about a week.
My problem did not occur during that week.
I then starting using K-Meleon again and my
problem started up again.
I then tried siria's suggestion of installing
"Foolproof Terminator".
I did not leave it installed long enough to

desga2: Well... I tried the chkdsk using full options
and it did NOT solve the problem. I even ran a disk
scanner to see if maybe the hard drive was going bad.
The results showed that my hard drive is working just
fine.
I then tried...
Tools -> Privacy -> Clear Data -> Clear All
After which...
I ran Windows Defragmenter (WinXP SP3) and rebooted.

For the past month I've had a problem at startup time.
It happens just about every other day.
During startup... Windows stops and says... there is
disk inconsistency problem on my D: drive. And does
a check of the disk and always find no problem. Then
continues to startup normally. It's become real annoying.
The reason I'm wondering if "maybe" this is an issue

Well I figured out how to get it to remember
the TOP value... but it doesn't solve the problem.
I had to remove the checkmark for the Taskbar property...

Hey desga2,
That is how I reset it (via the Bookmark Manager tab).
I've also tried resetting it in the prefs.js (after I've
closed K-Meleon). But every time I re-open K-Meleon...
the value for... TOP is back to zero. This is like real
annoying.

K-Meleon v1.5.2
Gecko: v1.8.1.20
My bookmark window is not remembering it's last location.
Every time I start up K-Meleon... the first thing I have
to do is... reset the value for the TOP
(LEFT, WIDTH, and HEIGHT are not affected).
I'm only using the Netscape Bookmmark plugin.
It's almost as if... when I close K-Meleon... it's ignoring
my setting and getting the sett

Thanks disrupted for going into the details
behind IETab (especially since I "was" (<-past tense)
going to copy the FF version over to K-Meleon
to see what would happen). Now I'm glad I read
your post "before" I did that because obviously
it would not have worked if I had tried.

Thanks for reminding me.
I totally forgot...
I already wrote a small utility program that
sets an application's position and size to my
preference (a fraction of second after it's
visible on screen) because I use this one
application on a daily basis.
I'll just write some more of the same utility
program's for those other unruly applications.

yes I have it set to...

written applications (that I did NOT write)
that do not remember their last location

What I mean is...
The user clicks the maximize button in the
upper right corner (between minimize and close)
Instead of the browser "completely" filling
the screen... it fills the screen EXCEPT for
the area where the Taskbar is (so the user
still has access to the Start Menu, and Quick
Launch, other opened windows, and the System
Tray).
K-Meleon would be the "only"

Yogi: There are 2 browsers that claim they
can use both the Gecko and Trident engines.
You simply select which engine to use on the fly.
One is called Sleipnir.
I've tried it but... it has too many flaws and
crashes alot (developers are located in Japan).
The other is called Lunascape.
I did not try this one because... I've read reviews
saying that it spends alot of time sen

I have my K-Meleon setup to associate a websites
favicon with it's matching bookmark entry.
(it's easier to find a bookmark entry if it visual)
(at least for me it is)
It works fine with most websites but...
if the website adds this...

Problem solved.
It turned out not to be an AdBlock list problem.
This helpful tip should (in my opinion) be
included in the documentation and/or FAQ.
Some sites such as MapQuest and Google Maps
(and even right here in this forum)
NEED to be able to manipulate images.
If you know the web site is trustworthy
(such as the three sites I mention above)

I frequently visit both...
MapQuest and Google Maps
and some other websites that have location/driving direction
maps (from the above web sites)... built into their home page.
The problem is... neither web site is displaying
their maps... in their entirety when I use K-Meleon.
I'm inclined to think that the problem is some how

The web site that I'm referring to is a job-hunting
website that is operated by the local government.
And with them being government... I'm sure they can
afford (and do) take more precautions to secure their
members identity than other sites like (monster.com).

Regarding AdBlock_Plus...
I subscribed to the AdBlock_Plus list, just as you suggested,
and I still didn't see any placeholders for ad images.
I was going to just leave AdBlock_Plus installed until...

First off... thank you desga2 for such a fast reply.
Now I can see why... when I downloaded the embed.zip file,
the first time, it contained nothing. I right clicked
the link and selected the context menu option...
"Save Link Target As..."
Apparently that doesn't work.
You have to open the link in a new tab.
Then... you're given the option to download it.
