I've downloaded Adblock in the past but I couldn't find a UK filter for it. I didn't spend that much time with it. I don't honestly use Firefox that much & K-Meleon & Opera do everything I want so much better & faster.

I've recently added NoScript to Firefox thinking I was improving its security. I didn't know much about it (NoScript) until recently. I don't use Firefox that much anyway, is it worth me keeping NoScript if it is so bad? EDIT ~ I've uninstalled it from Firefox. I don't really think that I needed it anyway, I rarely use Firefox as I have K-Meleon!

I don't use Firefox very much but I do tend to download most things with it. This is mainly due to force of habit as I have had it on the computer since the day after I bought it (it was the first thing I ever downloaded onto this laptop). Also it has a good download manager & virus scans anything downloaded. I can also use the McAfee Site Advisorwith it. I recently added NoScript to Fir

I have no idea why it happens, apart from the fact that to get an * I have to press/hold Ctrl then press the 8 on my keyboard. It is a laptop with the numbers above the Qwerty keyboard only. This may be part of the problem. I tried to use the Vista 'On-Screen Keyboard' but it will only utilise the same type of keyboard as my laptop. I think it is a laptop thing. *scratches head* :s

I use this spellchecker. However I copied 2 UK spellchecker files from SeaMonkey into K-Meleon's dictionary folder (en-GB.aff en-GB.dic). This works fine & I have a choice between 2 dictionaries (US & UK). I usually have the UK dictionary as default. It's no real problem, but it is an interesting side-effect of copying the SM dictionary I think!

I have noticed that F2 - Browsing - Hotlinks works fine until I try Ctrl 8. Then I get a spellchecker pop-up & it doesn't work as a hotlink. All of the other hotlink numbers work fine. Is this normal with a spellchecker installed?

Quotedesga2 @ Daveski17: QuoteJamesD You must have write authority to folder where your profile resides. Sounds like you might not have that. I think that was probably the problem. I uninstalled KM 1.5.1 (December 2008) eventually & about a year later I downloaded KM 1.5.3. & that works perfectly.

NAVTEQ looks great. It is a beta though so I reckon it will rival Bing eventually. It seems to think that I live above the Thames Estuary though!

I had the same problem running Vista (Home Premium) with K-Meleon 1.5.1. There has been at least one service pack for Vista since then. It's fine now with KM 1.5.3. I just wondered if it was a similar problem. I have no idea why I couldn't bookmark. They would save until I closed the browser, when I opened it they had all disappeared.

Quotedesga2 You are right, Bing Maps not work in KM with default UA or others like Firefox 2, Seamonkey 1.1.18. But in this browsers not work Bing Maps also this message is showed to Seamonkey 2.0, but this work fine if you continue, I don't know about Firefox 3, but I think this is other Micro$oft boicot to competence browser. That sounds about right. In Opera 10.10 I can mask as IE or Fi

I used to be able to spoof my user agent & use Bing Maps in KM. Now it seems that I can't use it. Multimap is fine. I even tried to use a custom IE 8 user agent, it didn't work. Is this because KM has an older Gecko engine, lazy browser-sniffing by Microsoft or something more sinister?

That's clever Doon. I agree with you, the Privacy Bar is surprisingly useful, especially as it can be customised (in Config) quite easily even by me! LOL It was an excellent creation jsnj!

Well Guenter, it looks like you & me are in the minority for keeping the privacy bar displayed! I think it is quite useful if you customise it a bit by commenting out the buttons you don't want.

Quotejsnj Haven't seen that skin in awhile It's an old skin I ported for KM v0.9 called Knoia Warm. I think Guenter updated the toolbars.cfg file to work with KM 1.5. It's very subtle & has a lot of class I think.

OK desga2, thanks for the info. I tried it but it wouldn't save. I have had similar problems with notepad & SRWare Iron's adblocker. I'll probably have to disable the UAC (Vista) temporarily. That normally does the trick with Iron's adblock list which is saved on Notepad also. EDIT: It worked after I disabled the UAC while I 'commented out' some of the bu

QuoteJamesD I don't display it. It looks like I'm in the minority here. QuoteJamesDI found that the only thing I used often was Javascript, so I made a button to toggle my default in Policy Manager from Javascript on to Javascript off. All I see is a small flag next to the throbber that is either red (on) or green (off). That sounds like an elegant solution. I often surf with

Yeah, I can agree with that. That's why I dragged it next to the menu bar. It doesn't take any more screen space that way. It looks kinda 'techie' & makes me think I'm clever (or look like a nerd). Even though I'm not that clever! LOL

What I don't understand is why Google were using IE 8 anyway when they have their own browser? I never liked IE anyway. It seems the problem was well known.

I just wondered if anyone has the KM Privacy bar permanently on display on their toolbar or do you keep it hidden? I have dragged mine next to the menu bar & in-between that & the tab buttons & throbber. This way it doesn't add to the height of the GUI. I find that the User Agent, Kill Flash & JavaScript buttons are easily displayed & more functional. I can see everyth

A friend of mine has told me that they are using STOPzilla as their AV. I thought that STOPzilla was only anti-malware & not anti-virus. To be honest I haven't heard very good things about it. I would be grateful if anyone has any more information about it.

OK thanks for the info. I've almost fried my hard drive with anti-malware scans LOL! I seem clean thankfully. You're very probably right about the hackers. I have spoken to some of the guys on the Wilders security forums & at least one of them checked it out using Sandboxie & Firefox with Noscript & they reckon it is nothing to worry about & appears very amateur.

I went to the Literature Junction website at about 11:45 pm GMT to find that it had been hacked by some group. The homepage was black with a message on it saying something like ‘This Site Has Been Hacked by ......’ I only stayed a few seconds & clicked off it as fast as I could so I didn’t really read who the hackers were. I have only recently joined the site anyway. I have run a fu
