nothing wrong except that windows ate the file ./profiles/registry.dat or ./k-meleon/registry.dat (if You have it in apdata. bookmarks.html will be still in the old profile - just copy bookmarks.html to the new profile and back it up somewhere - also backup new profiles.dat to a safe place -You can use it when Your windows eats it again.

there are two types of changes. k-meleon.exe caches those prefs that it handles. And the exe has more rights normally The rest is handled by about:config.... Advanced Preferences... (XUL interfaces ) The problem that You obsered will be fixed for 1.5 - then both types will get equal rights. I have lived with the problem since 0.6. IMHO the rest of a wait till 1.5 is ok?

I forgot a NO. Sorry about it. XPI = a zip archive that auto installs for Firefox... K-Meleon's XPI install servive has been deactivated. It would not install Firefox XPI anyway. I have unpacked Googlebar.XPI a while ago & tried to install it manually. It does not work with K-Meleon.
