Even with XP sp3, and 2.8Ghz era single core intel....no accelerated video even on the demo site. To take advantage of the stage video, I think you need current OS such as Vista or better...or more recent hardware...

Yes, the pain is basically nonexistent if you know what you're doing! I have a program that runs at startup that cleans all the temp files older than a few days old. But is your batch distributed to users of hacked flash? Does anyone warn them of the problem of endlessly storing files on their machine? I was just warning them in case they don't know. It's a surprising side effect f

I think the patch they are speaking of is to prevent the deletion of downloaded flash from the \temp folder. This is one way of saving flash content such as music or video to a portable device. I don't like it because it really clogs up your disk with flash files. I like to use ClipConverter.cc to extract flash, it's free and offloads the computation to somebody else as well... The o

Reporting it works in W98 with KEx and KM 1.6. Did not test accelerated video, but this computer is so old, I wonder if it really has any significant video acceleration in its video driver....

Well, in general, at least on W98, these things happen all over the place. See previous post. And I may have spoken too soon, I just had one of these "non events" not 2 seconds before navigating here, and I have not changed anything, so maybe turning on KEx for everything improves response, but not fix 100%. Do people running XP also experience "lost events" from keyboard a

plugin files like audio are not stored in kmeleon cache. they are stored in temp folder. it doesn't make any difference what you set your cache to. you can see what files are stored in cache in the latest kmeleon by looking in cache panel of prefs. Streaming radio isn't usually stored on the disk at all, no need, it's streaming. The buffer is in memory of the plugin. I found on

Kmeleon does not save anything in the temp folder, but plugins do. That's where content you download and ask to "open" rather than "save" goes. That's where audio, video, flash, pdf's also go while they are in use. The plugin is responsible to delete them when finished, but doesn't always do the job. If there is a crash while the content is in use, it will

@siria Working on the window freeze up problem where you need to click the taskbar to wake it up. This problem goes away ( at least so far, a couple of days) if I turn on KEx for all apps by default and block flash. Am now trying with flash unblocked. Note that flash runs a very high priority in the cpu and can block clicks at any time, even on my 3Ghz XP machine at work, but it doesn't j

MicroRSS v1.8beta is available for KM1.6. Adds compatibility with Feed Subscribe extension... What is it ?? A compact, simple, RSS feed reader that organzies RSS feeds and loads them, it only takes up about 14K. It will allow podcasts to be downloaded from feeds. New Features for 1.8: - Accepts URL's from Feed Subscribe extension. - Only one instance at a time is allowed now. So that

they could have changed the formatting in the feed, or it could be microrss, the problem is that there is no standard for what kind of html can be put into a feed. there is no setting that works flawlessly on all sites, I just try to find a good compromise. maybe mozilla doesn't recognize that they are images because they are in a hyperlink? who knows? i even try to turn on the kmeleon autom

Yeah, I didn't try it. I guess you would switch with onFocus rather than onClick or something. Well, you can figure it out. I think it had the event onFocus because one used to be able to use keyboard navigation to select and read the feeds, but that's gone in the next version anyways. As long as you can read and select, it can work for you. And I agree, there is a logic to making it

Awesome. Now go into tree.htm and find the function drawFeedTree. You will see that the subscription tree is made from ordinary hyperlinks in a recursive function. You can interchange the click events on the hyperlinks to make single click open, and double click select. On about the 3rd line of the function. Let me know how (or if) it works.

Ha! you have double my memory ! I run 98 only as well. Mother board will not recognize a second bank of memory! If you suspect your browser is slow, I would look at what else is running on your system in the background that is stealing time and memory from it...and....make sure your network connection is setup and tuned. especially if the computer used to be used on dialup and now is on broadband

You just have to turn them on. Hit F2 to get preferences. Then under Kmeleon plugins:macro extension you will see check boxes to select the features you want and deselect the features you don't need. The menus etc will change automagically to reflect this. If there is anything missing in 1.6, it probably is because it's no longer needed or advisable to use it. There is no difference

If you are running KM from a RAM drive, and your cache folder in your profile is located on that RAM drive, then your disk cache is really in RAM. So it's the same as cache in RAM or on a RAM drive. There are no possibilities of any kind of conflicts - other than your RAM drive decreases the amount of memory available for KM and other programs to actually run in, and in extreme cases will le

A ram disk is a waste of time on a modern machine. These things are from like 20 years ago. As you noticed, it is faster to not use it! If you are going to use it, it doesn't make any difference wat FAT you use or what size you set it to, just make it bigger than the maximum disk cache size in KM. so it won't overflow. why you don't need it? because modern browsers from since ab

Can be done. I would chooose the 7zip package because it is less likely to install over, meaning on top of, 1.5.4. You will have to choose one to be default browser which handles links from other programs and html files. Although whichever one is running will get the requests. YOu can only have one active at a time. Keep in mind that they are not generally sharing the same profile, so password

If you make a new color scheme, send it to me and maybe we can offer more than one. I'm sure my choices aren't the best for everyone. And I am thinking for other reasons as well to make it possible to move a feed out of a category to a new one. But there are no menus and no easy way to make them in microrss. In general, adding the functionality of a feature is pretty easy, integratin

yup. I've seen that in the past. But I think it may even have happened on 1.5. All the tab icons off by one. Haven't seen it since using 1.6 though. I've been watching favicons and new ones are not rendered correctly. Even with the old IconCache.dat. But we do learn that the problem is not rendering icons, just storing them or downloading them, since previously cached ones look

The Icon problem... By which I mean the favicon problem, not the menu icon problem. Garbled favicons are found, at least on W98. I have noticed something, I replaced the Iconcache.dat with an old one from KM 1.5 and now all the icons look perfect, even the new ones I think. But I don't have the chrome folder with new ad css and broken picture css in my profile. When I added that, it see

1. I have no idea what you mean? What colors? What darker? If you want to skin it though, I can tell you how if you don't already know. 2. One click selects the item in the tree, necessary to move it, get its props or delete it. Two clicks opens it. Just like anything else in Windows. 3. What is the difference between your proposal and how it is formatted now? the indentations? Plus,

uhh, no, you can't just send the URL to the dialog, it won't know what to do with it and it needs the full microrss app to put it into the subscriptions tree... I have thought of some solutions though...the scenario is that microrss could be made to grab the new URL when it is launched. It could then check to see if another instance of itself is running and close it. Then the user c

You have an RSS reader button on your privacy toolbar? Sure it's not in your mail/news toolbar? that's where it normally resides. if you change macros(RSS) to macros(microrss) it should launch microrss. If you want to hide this button, just put # in front of all 6 lines. Done. But... this is just cosmetic... read on .... But it has to be installed first, that's why I keep asking

IE looks faster because it does not delay drawing the page and constantly "reflows" it, giving you something to look at while it loads. Mozilla likes to wait a while before drawing the page, which makes it look slower, but you can read the page as soon as it draws. You can make Mozilla browsers just like IE if you'ld like by changing the initialpaintdelay pref in about:config. Just

@jsnj: To clarify: microrss v1.7 is compatible with older kmeleon as well as new (afaik). No need for double versions. re: feed subscribing enhancement I think it can be done, sort of. The string you posted looks like it just a small subapplication that puts the feed info into the subscribe file. But where to put it? If you notice, you can't move feeds around in microrss, just their o

In fact, you can click any type of other window and back to KM to wake it up. I am fairly certain this is a KernelX problem, maybe related to using KernelX for some programs but not all of them, creating multiple queues for moouse and keyboard events. I will try to research it a little more this week. Any XP users experiencing these lockups? Sometimes they never time out. Also, it looks lik

There is no reason to remove Newsfox. You probably just need to turn on the macro for microrss in your prefs:macro extensions selections to put it in the toolbars and menus. You will know it is installed when you see its entry under the Tools menu. If it still doesn't work, please be more specific about your symptoms...
