You know, I don't think I have ever gotten good results using the search function in this forum. Maybe it is just me. Anyway, I was playing with opera today, and I noticed something I had not noticed before. When on google, I pressed the space bar, and the page scrolled down. That is pretty normal. But then it opened the next page in the search order. I did not know it did that. A quick l

Used to be IE had such a large share, now though from traffic I see, FF is ahead my a good margin. Followed by IE. It is interesting that Opera is actually not that far behind IE. KM is unfortunately as I saw, only 2% of traffic where I can look. Still though, I do believe the primary goal was met, and that was to get everyone off IE with its built-in black hole of exploitation. So in that

lol, sometimes it takes using something to jog your memory. In the last few day I realized, again, why I use Kmeleon more than Opera. I really really like how Opera handles cached data. It is without a doubt, in my book, the fastest when using sessions, and the fastest at going 'back' and loading cache. Has been for many versions, like versions 4 I think is when I started seriously u

I don't know what it is. I try out different settings. That is the part of KM I like the best, the tweaking and macro bit. I have some machines that use Proxomitron, others that don't. I guess I don't sweat it too much overall, but I can verify the problem exists. I suppose I would rather use KM over the others. Opera is really tempting as well, but I enjoy 'messing' with

There are most certainly small issues in 151,152 and 153. The key typing slowly issue that has been mentioned has been present for me anyway in the last 3 versions. I do not think it is flash/java specific. It is also not repeatable for me. I run KM on pIII 700's with 512mb ram, athlon 2400xps, athlon 2500 bartons, a64 fx 55, p4 2g, p4 1.7g, p4 1.8g, pp4 2.2g all these with 1-2gb ram. Core2D

I used to use Opera pretty much exclusively, for ages. It was on my 486 and was adware back then. But it was fast. I don't know when I started using Kmeleon, but it was a long time ago as well. I used it primarily on my laptop back then, or on my desktop when a page would not render correctly in Opera. KM never let me down, always rendering properly. I have not used IE except when a page dem

QuoteEd L. Hmm, I'm going to have to disagree about Opera being bloated, although it doesn't feel as light as K-Meleon. I have had a few conversations on this topic. It is useful to define 'bloated'. Most times bloated is referred to as an over-fat slow hunk o junk, much like Nero has become the last few years, or adobe. The bloated I think many, but certainly I, refer to is

Hey, that gives me some ideas. Thanx. I should have thought of that before. There is no reason I can't script up something to change those and do file copies etc, no matter the language as it is only a text file. MrWoo.

too bad there isn't a repository of sorts for ones config directory. Or an export function that would strip out personal data so ones settings can be exported/imported for such purposes as beginners getting to see how others setup thier KM. MrWoo.

I was die-hard Opera user for a very long time. I used Kmeleon as a backup if a site did not display correctly. After I felt Opera became a bit bloated I switched to KM full time. Maybe 2 years ago now. I have FF and IE available, but rarely use them. KM seems so light and simple now that the other browsers quite frankly all seem bloated. Just my opinion I suppose, as they have a much larger user

Thank you for answering that guenter. So there is no optimization for cache other than size allotted or the 4 options in the preferences? MrWoo.

Yeah, using the never option speeds it up. but not the right option really. now I am using 'whenever a page is loaded' I have never looked into optimizing cache at all. Is there any tweaks available or tips that might help other than playing with those 4 options in preferences? MrWoo.

Ah. The options are whenever a page is loaded when the cached page is out of date (was checked) never - always load from cached once per session I toggled over to the never option. It does load faster, but still not as fast as Opera. There is still network activity, something is fetching current data, maybe ads or something? I will try to track down where the connections lead with

This works really well. A very noticable difference over default settings. I have a couple questions though. 1. when this is enabled, the pages load faster most definately. However, when you click on a link, it is now maybe 50-75% of the time not 'linking'. Meaning, you click the link, it stalls. Many times, after say 5-10 seconds it starts loading and loads very fast. If you click t

Hi. I have noticed that when I used Opera and had the option to open last session, it loaded the pages from cache and was very quick about it. I notice in KM that when I open with previous session, it is much slower. I notice network activity when I open KM in this way. I am wondering, is there a way to make KM do the same thing as Opera? Is it only a cache memory issue? Both have I believe

I did not leave it either. I have it installed and use it rarely. I have never liked it. I always used Opera or KM. Opera used to be my choise, but as it becomes more of a 'suite', I have gravitated almost exclusively to KM. I don't know why some are so adamant that FF is superior. Used to be on dialup you could say Opera was superior, and it would have been fact. If FF works

I am wondering, at default settings, why KM seems to be slower at re-rendering the page when using the back button than Opera. Ages ago when on dialup, and Opera was still ad-driven, one of the best features was that when you went back, it loaded from cache very very quickly. KM does not seem to be as responsive still as Opera was even then, and now I am on a much faster computer. Am I missing

I just got done testing. I have a core2duo machine with a 3meg internet connection. Upgrading from v151 to 152, a definate slow down. Uninstall. Put 152 on. As you say, put 151 on tandem. I made sure the cache was gone. From all defaults, 152 is very noticably slower than than 151. Dramatically slower. I would say at least 5 seconds slower. Slower when initially filling cache, slower after cac

QuoteJamesDRemember that, depending on your user's KM version, you might have to use the conditional instead of if-then. Oh. I had not thought of that. I suppose on the exit question then it will depend on the macro. It is helpful thought to know that, so that I can try to code them with those kind of checks at the end when possible, else I will have to use the other functions. Than

Thanks desga2. That led me to almost finishing this macro. I am currently stuck on something though. If I go to an ftp site, and right click on a file, the return $LinkURL within the macro is something like File%201900%20.zip When holding pointer over the file, the message at bottom shows the link as File1900.zip. When passing this to wGet, it obviously fails because the %LinkURL is not

Hmm. I have never really seen one version be slower than another. But I have on this one. It is very noticable because I go to a few sites every day, all the time, and am used to a certain speed. Once I put 152 on, and that was over a week ago, I was noticing a second or two 'delay' in page loading, even with same profile settings. That is why I asked. Good to know what you stated Gu

Thanks for that great example of using if statements in macro. Actually, you might put one of those in your tutorial macro. A good complex working example is great to have around. I understand what you mean, that is fairly standard for if/else. But I mean, maybe something like this: myfunc{ checking values call a function getting data call another function getting user info If user in

Hmm. I did an update from 151 to 152, so I think I will try removing KM altogether and install 152 fresh. What of the profile directory? I keep mine, have for a few versions now I think. Is there a known possible issue of a file or setting that should get purged? It really does. So much in fact that I put 1.5.1 back on and immediately noticed a difference. Seems that way on 4 machines. Anyone else think they noticed this too? MrWoo.

Oh, so the ampersand & would be what to use to tell it to 'goto' or 'call' a function. That is easy then, you just have a function that does nothing. But still there is no actual macro exit perse. So, in psuedocode, something like Func{ $x = 1 $y = 2 $answer = prompt() $answer != "" ? &Good : &Bad } Good{ $z = $x + $y # some command here to d

How would you handle an error in a macro. As in, you expect a value to be returned from something like a prompt, but get a "" instead. Usually you have an exit or return or end. I do not see this in the macro language. So, how do you achieve this? I know I could structure the functions of the macro so that it could be done, but still I wish to know if I am missing something. Thanks.

Great job on the Training.kmm. This is very useful, to both view the macro at the same time see how it displays prompts. I think having examples of things like loops and even If/Then statements like this are quite informative. Myself, I understand what it all is, but the syntax structure is just a little different than what I have used before. So an example script where I don't have to follo

How does one change the behaviour of the URLBAR? I am looking to create searching from google by typing in 'g search string' instead of having to hit ctrl G. This would be useful if you wanted to have the default search for instance use ask.com, then without having to mouse up to the search icon or remember another hotkey. Also it would allow the user to program a macro to interpret wha
