Interesting... PS: That blog looks formatted normal here (KM1.6, JS blocked ;-) randomly lots of probs with newer certificates, TLS>1.0 etc.) Which prefs do you mean for blocking ssl-stuff?

MRU just means "most recently used" or such. Just a list of last visited pages, no setting. And not sure if known, but settings can be changed directly on about:config when right-clicking on them, or double-clicking. Looks like changing some of those video settings need a browser restart: https://www.reddit.com/r/vidme/comments/3h4240/kindly_stop_requiring_that_windowsmediafoundat

Hihi, had just meant to leave your *site* as is :) It's perfectly fine and great that you can customize KM to your personal needs now, that's exactly why we love it! Oh yes, menus also tend to suffer from MOP - menu-over-population... Telling a macro-writer, and lousy at cleaning up  Ah pity about the touchpad. No idea how right-click gestures would work there, if at all.

Would just leave them inside as is :) Personally when I'm blocking styles, it's either to reduce giant page loads or trying to get a wider layout etc., but blocking such little inline styles would only make the page worse, not better, so why. What I will probably do now is create a keyboard shortcut in accel.cfg to call up that macro, even though it's already accessible in my Privacy menu. In

:D I know what you mean, there are actually a few toolbars that I switch on only when needed, for a couple minutes - especially Priv3buttons. Your assumption is right about blocking external files only: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Hostperm.1 it deals only with loading files, not with inline tags. As a result, rules will not affect inline styles, inline scripts, or DOM event scripts, to name a

Yep :) Especially useful for people with old or very slow computers, or prefering to surf with blocked javascript. Blocking CSS speeds up snail pages enourmously (when even JS block doesn't suffice yet), and sometimes it even unhides stuff that otherwise wouldn't be visible without JS. Had badly missed this function for YEARS, and only recently learned it has existed all that time already, eve

As usual with such stuff, just searching for firefox bugs gives tons of hits. Some look quite interesting http://www.google.de/search?q=firefox+%22twitter+videos%22+bug&num=30&nfpr=1&gbv=1 But what really worries me now is this: FF has started using their own MP4 parser (which is an absolute security nightmare and I don't want to touch it - I've had about 30 sec bugs pass my evalu

@John, rodocop, James and other macro writers, this may help you a bit for debugging testing, especially for the countless hidden media prefs. One of my many forever unfinished macros, chaotic alpha, meanwhile outdated and partly wrong itself => please don't distribute further http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/file.php?10,file=1430,filename=menuplus_DEBUG_160501.7z

No idea, that's complicated dev stuff, so wouldn't hold my breath. Tried one of those hidden FF prefs, but didn't work in KM. Yes it would be a nice function. Just wanna mention a rather unknown function in KM, which should be added to that help-button some day: In the Edit Mode find-as-you-type works. That means call Bookmarks>Edit and type away. But it creates no list, it's only possible t

It's funny how eyes trick us and I didn't notice it till today and in a tiny screen hehe. Hehe, yep, cool!! Usually typos downright jump at me, and it took years of internet reading to finally reduce that annoying reflex. But now have read that headline twenty times too and never noticed a thing, and probably wouldn't have ever! Yep, funny tricks :D

The Favorites>Options in KM1.6 already have a sorting interface in the normal pref sheets, in tab "Favorites Menu". Probably KM7X too, otherwise would be a bug, and assume it's the very same pref, but haven't checked. But am afraid you have a basic misunderstanding about what the asker meant initially: In IE, if you had a favorite named Google and a favorite named Youtube, whic

:O Thanks for trying to help, but you guys are kidding... Am merely looking for a TINY modern browser for win98, not for a whole new, giant and complicated operating system  Neither enough free disk space (near zero) nor learning time, if I could I'd long since have done it. Or rather switched to XP or win7, but I'll sure do as guenter did and ten minutes after going online with a new system

Very informative list, thanks! Hm, you don't happen to know if one of those ultralight ones may run on my poor old machine too..? (perhaps heard from your comrades) Could sometimes use a secondary one for probs with ultramodern websites. Then again, probably also depends a lot on the system and plugins, not just the browser, sigh.

Yeah yeah I know, win98 + KM1.6 are always the first culprits to blame :P but still: Often wonder WHY exactly a website refuses to show some stuff - if sometimes it couldn't be just one of the 1000 settings?! Just which??? Sometimes it does help! Often just toggling cookies, or referers. Very often it even helps to just kill CSS, yeah not pretty but readable (handy button incl. quick restore) I

A simple way to test what file may be the culprit is just replacing them one by one with an original file again. And keeping an eye on the error console as usual.

http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?8,136880,page=6 I've posted about 3-4 different problems there but never got a way to fix them. I didn't have those problems with Firefox. Having no history is probably going to force me to switch browsers. Probably Opera or Light. Since no one else reports such a prob, it's probably something on your own computer, but nearly impossible to diagnose f

Welcome Marc, that's a well hidden setting ;-) F2 > Browsing > (Tab) Window Diversion > Open: URLs passed from external applications (etc....) @Dorian: couldn't this be made the default setting now, in 2016? ;-)

On Firefox I use some extensions that work well most of the time. Does anyone have suggestions for K-Meleon? Maybe an extension or some other method? Perhaps best bet to try to get those FF addons running in KM. Since that stuff works in the background, chances are perhaps quite good? Perhaps other can help testing (not me, stuck with 1.6) when you give more details about those addons and a t

Menu probs can have all sorts of reasons, mostly macros/extensions/addons or user configs, but hard to tell anything from a distance. Perhaps the error console gives a hint, but for menus rather rarely. Try replacing the menus.cfg with an original one or something like that, or disabling extensions one by one for testing. Test what happens with a new (additional) profile. Is that menu only brok

Do a regular backup of the profile folder... Anyway, NOW before doing anything else, especially before closing KM again, open this folder (Edit>Config>Profile Directory) and make a copy of it. With some luck there is still an automatic backup of sessions file in it... Perhaps you also have a new profile now, in that case look one level higher, if there are parallel profile folde

Just checked: KM75=false, KM76=true That means the default setting has changed. Profile settings in prefs.js only store users settings that are *different* from default, so copying it over can still results in different settings ;-) Comparing Beta 3 to RC startup times, I am showing 6 seconds with disk cache and adblock for beta 3 and less than 1 second for RC without disk cache and without a

Interesting solution, with bat file :) Another thought, but needs testing: what happens if you set the empty folders write-protected, before KM start? If they get reset and still filled, next try: delete them and create a file with their name, setting those files write-protected?

YIKES - sorry I find that absolutely crazy too!! 8000 folders is an awful lot, even if empty! But typical Mozilla again... even in the ancient versions like KM1.6 the cache was a nightmare, unlike IE5 gecko had only unreadable filenames (hate it), and after a crash all was lost (hated it while on slow modem). And now what do they do, finally use the much more user-friendly old IE-cache system, wit

Slow startups seem usually due to stuff like adblock downloading huge lists... Just looked inside (only with win98 explorer), the new kplugin is not included anymore?

Thank you for all the work! Just a tiny nitpick, from peeking inside: Extension "places@mozilla" is contained 2x, and its install.rdf limits the use to older versions than 76. Is that intentional...? And Newsfox is running on max. 38.6
