QuoterodocopIn short: it isn't as easy as for flash to get html5 played only on-demand. Devs cannot solve this issue fully, but Gecko41 will bring some partial solution. I'm not believing this for a minute. Perhaps it's not quite easy, but with all the paid full-time programmers they have it could certainly be done - if they really wanted. Personally am sure if Dorian just had e

Puuhh.... 9 days!! With all the other parts of sourceforge restored sooner, I was slowly starting to worry if the forum was lost for good now. Boah, but SF really has no future anymore

Not sure, but suggestion to try something: Click on Edit>Configuration>Macros, that will open an explorer window where KM is installed. Now go one step higher into the parent folder. Is there a file named "profile.ini" ? (singular, NOT profileS!) If yes, rename it to hide it from KM (e.g. to profile_ini) If not, create it. Make sure it doesn't have any hidden ending aft

Just curious, could you post a direct link to one or two of such google entries? Because on my old KM1.6 all google pages seem to have titles, am probably searching differently. Unless it's one of my macros, but doubt that thinkereing of that sort was necessary with google at all. Yeah I know different KM history systems, but if a page HAS a title it would be shown in both.

And I even came across a site where FF users were complaining and discussing that those new prefs foliator mentioned have changed their own behaviour between FF versions 24/35/36! Another "funny" peculiarity: Someone wrote setting the pref "plugins.click_to_play" to "true" would give an option "Ask to activate" for plugins, on about:addons/Plugins. Note

What a pure and peaceful site - yet it has all it needs! So rare these days, sigh. QuotefoliatorI'm still wondering why the file handling dialog in KM's preferences is empty, considering all the changes in the Applications tab of about-preferences. (...) This meant that I also had to redo the media types, but that's easy now. This stuff really has my head spinning!

QuoteJohnHellHTML5 nowadays, can't be blocked, or the flashblock that comes with K-meleon, at least with youtube, doesn't work with HTML5 video tag. But in F2 > ...> Flashblock > Whitelist is a checkbox to also "block html5 video" - does it not work?

Whoa - thanks to you! What an ever-growing pref-jungle they create, incredible! Just to make it as hard on us as possible to do things our own way, not theirs. Great find!

QuoterodocopBeing precise, video gets the sound but neither you can watch the picture nor the flashblock button disappear. You're not alone: https://dfspspirit.wordpress.com/2014/02/15/vimeo-does-not-work-with-firefox-and-the-flashblock-plugin THIS sounds interesting... more than 1 domain needs to be whitelisted: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=66654

Decided to rename my HOSTS file and => BINGO! The video page shows up. Have blocked some two dozen sites in HOSTS like google-analytics, googleapis... So far looks normal. Allowed JS, blocked Flash, and the familiar Start-Icon appears. Am not going further or might overload my old pc, since KM1.6 cannot stop any stuff once it started loading.

Quotefoliatorthe specific string "MP3" is nowhere to be found in my about:config In that case I'd add it manually. Just because a pref isn't shown doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't exist or has no effect. Can remember for sure that somewhere on the mozilla pages mp3 was listed among those media prefs.

QuoteJamesD I must not have something enabled that I should on my system. Javascript is allowed and flashblock is off, but all that I see at https://vimeo.com/132980067 is an empty white screen. Win 7 (32 bit) KM 75.0 Ha - you too, even on win7?! Me too, but that's on KM 1.6  Find it funny that there is absolutely nothing, not even a source-code, no error-message, even when fakin

There are also some "media" prefs in about:config, for mp3 etc., but no idea if those have any effect.

Attention when using this together with other mimetypes (filetypes) extensions, may cause conflicts. This also overwrites filetype template files for new profiles. Could use a description... When reading the notes inside the kmm, the full function depends on still having an original mtypes.kmm. And this new kmm-file needs version-dependent extension files, which are different for KM1.6 and K

Cool! (That's the guy who can only 'change some fixed strings' ) GERMAN for "hide title-bar": "Titelleiste ausblenden" Regarding the error console, just noticed that line was mainly added to show its version, because in KM1.6+1.7 it reads: "Console2 0.6.1 for K-Meleon 1.6". Without any versions it's a bit useless, but anyway: GERMAN: &

QuoteguenterI transfered my default profile from 74 - > 75. On the assumption that it might be a pref. To no avail. 75 crashes with the 74 prefs. So at least it cannot be a default pref. The prefs.js in profile folder contains only changed prefs, no default settings. If those are different, they are defined elsewhere. Probably most in the default preferences and settings folders, but perhaps

There are tons of prefs for "encoding" and "charset" in about:config, and some are empty. Perhaps the culprit is just a pref? Did a very short test with changing a few but so far no luck (Vista/readme.html). Windows says it's something with xul.dll For testing it helps to use only a temporary change via VIEW > ENCODING At least this way the browser will restart wi

The sites-list is just a pref, simple thing: "getpref" and "alert" to show it. With some replacement of ; with \n to get linebreaks between sites. If I recall correctly there's something with such linebreaks in oneventcheck.kmm too, perhaps an example. Yes an automatic site-switcher is a great feature, but that doesn't mean the older macro were dead now, just beca

IMO the default UA shouldn't be hardcoded at all. While I don't understand this sophisticated extension, I know from the traditional one that "default UA" simply means the OVERRIDE pref is empty => no overwriting of the native default. No idea if that would work here too, but perhaps just try. In the "kmeleonMain.js" (BTW why not useragentmulti.js or something? Wh

Quotemitakuye.oyasinwhich causes K-Meleon to show a "?" instead of the correct letter. I would like to force a change to the correct 8859-1 letter by clicking an item on the menu. It's in menu View>Encoding, and 8859-1 is already in the top menu. A hundred more variations are in the submenus. PS: This menu is created by a macro, "encoding.kmm". If you or anyone ne

QuotepeonReportably, Microsoft will offer Windows 10 as a free upgrade for one year to current owners of Windows 7 and 8.0/8.1. After the 'free' year, prepare to pay 'rent' for the rest of your life if you want a Microsoft OS. win7 or win10? And afterwards your computer is dead if you don't pay regularly??? As they say, power corrupts... And today we are obviously r

From what little I grasped about new skin system so far, icon pics are not assigned to menu-lines, buttons and toolbars anymore: that means not to positions. They are now linked directly to commands. Wherever that command shows up, it will automatically show its icon. The downside is that buttons and menuicons inevitably have also the same icon size. Unless different sizes are now possible in

Yeah I too have probs with external downloads and would MUCH prefer 2-3 chopped attachments directly in the forum. That said it looks like this version of ABP only works in KM7x or 75. Have you noticed the screenshot, when you scroll higher here? It shows the full menu and all entries.

Thank you rodocop! Glad it really works And it also fills out the linked fields like subject and body too? Have meanwhile considered to perhaps use a bit javascript and add the webmailer-prefix to all mailto-links in all page source codes automatically, that would make it fully automatic and also prevent outlook (or whatever) popping up each time annoyingly when clicking a mailto-link accide

@James, have edited the sandbox. Since we do have an old and new page for macrolanguage, lets use it and finally clean up that confusing obsolete KM1.1 stuff in the new version! Layers and macros.cfg aren't used anymore anyway, and the current syntax is already complex and long enough to make it hard for readers, needs no additional confusion. Under the top headline can be links from one

Yes I understand such syntax details can look rather confusing, but there's a page in the wiki to explain macrolanguage: http://kmeleonbrowser.org/wiki/MacroLanguage2#setmenu() (That link is also in the beginning of almost every kmm file)

@noalternative: Do me a little favor? Checking if that little macro http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?9,134374 indeed redirects to the compose page and fills out the fields, when using the link menu? Have no account there, so not sure if really all works right... Here's a page with test links: www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000056.htm

Probably an extremely short-lived macro, until (hopefully soon) the filetypes bug gets fixed. There are also better workarounds out there, fully automatic, just a bit too complicated for most normal users  (e.g. here) Anyway, if you want to open mailto-links with your webmail and don't manage it otherwise, try this macro and open them with a keyboard shortcut or right-click on the
