QuoteJohnHell BTW, I didn't know Yandex had similar one. Checking.... AFAIK Yandex' original code was based on Opera (the new one not Presto). At leat that was the case at the time when I was still active on the Opera forums (under a different nickname).

QuoterodocopThe trick is that you cannot get the page of Google reverse image search by 1 click That's true. Avoiding a second click can save a few milliseconds of my precious time. QuoterodocopSo you only can get (by siria's macro for example) to that page shown by JohnHell. And click for similar images from there. I got that page shown by JohnHell without any macro or plugin

@Anixx To make a long story short - for different reasons it is not advisable to overwrite a program which you installed through an installer by unzipping a portable version over it. Something you can do and it will work for sure: 1. Downlod the portable package of the old vesion you want to upgrade. 2. Unzip that package to a location of your choice. The only locations where you should not

OK, "arte tv" works with both Firefox ESR and K-Meleon76RC2. I retested to see why it didn't work for me before. It was because of my user.js file. Some setting(s) for privacy and for making fingerprinting harder were the reason. However I didn't bother to look further and see which of those setting(s). The site doesn't need flash to work. However with flash enabl

It's not K-Meleon related. Latest Firefox ESR is affected as well and so is Opera Presto. To blame is "arte tv". They changed their code forcing people to use only browsers the code was modified to work only with.

Are both checkmarks set? Your bookmarks are located in the subfolder of your "Profiles" folder. That subfolder is created at first run and has a random name.

QuoteJujuLand So, localhost is really not necessary in all cases  A+ I'm afraid there is a misunderstanding. Imagine you are running a local server e.g 127.0.0.1:8000 You want to retrieve files located on that server. First you'll have to connect to that server in order to get the files. Basically it's the same procedure as if you visit a site in the World Wide

I assume that it's hardware related. With my quadcore CPU it takes 1+ second to view the source (KM75, KM76RC). Firefox needs the same amount of time. External or internal viewer, it makes here no difference. Opera Presto fetches the source faster (instantly).

It's a matter of personal preference. I've never installed the install package for Flash from Adobe (Macromedia). I always only download the stand-alone plugin (NPSWF32.dll). That's how I'm using Flash with K-Meleon, Opera Presto and Firefox ESR since ages. For Firefox you will also need FlashPlayerPlugin.exe to be placed next to NPSWF32.dll. The pedantic way with K-Meleo

@zeronero What is "advor"? Advanced Onion Router? If so why making a mess? You already have TOR bundled with the TorBrowser. If you want to use AdvOR instead, download the latest Firefox-ESR and configure it to use AdvOR. Additionally you can install the extensions TorBrowser is using and configure your Firefox-ESR the way it is configured in the TorBrowser bundle. You can make a

@Dorian Nice to see you. To you and all K-Meleoneros: Season's greetings and best wishes for the New Year! Sorry for the annoyance. Wouldn't an external HD come handy? They are quite cheap nowadays. Even though I never experienced data loss I have all valuable data stored on an external HD. Call me paranoid but some of the data is stored additionally on a second external HD.

Quoterodocop AFAIK, plugin.scan.plid.all defines search in system folders. Setting it to false doesn't prevent KM from finding plugins in its own secondary subfolders (liке browser/plugins). That's correct. I have plugin.scan.plid.all disabled myself. I didn't meant plugins in its own secondary subfolders (liке browser/plugins) but system folders.

Quoterodocop I use /browser/plugins and I'm not sure about root. Root directory, the topmost directory of a hierarchical file system. In this case: K-meleon root\plugins = main folder: K-Meleon\ subfolder: plugins The above is the standard/classic way. However K-Meleon will scan for plugins during start-up (plugin.scan.plid.all) and will find them in other (sub)folders too.

QuoteZvonko My suspect is that some websites opening a cascade of additional smaller windows are the reason for this problem. Is there a way to prevent such "attacking" openings? Open Browser Configuration (about:config) and change for dom.popup_maximum the default value to 3. See if it helps.

@lroixx Many of us are from Europe. Some of them tried to connect to your problematic site in order to test and see if they can help. All of them got a time-out -> the computer tries to connect for 120 seconds to the desired server until it gives up. Every server owner has the right to block undesired visitors but there is a codex among civilized people. Namely, you tell those visitors t

Quotesiria Now with the US and CA being rather closely related, am not quite ruling out yet that country sniffing thing ;-) Right so Siria. I get a time-out with both, the latest Firefox ESR 45.4.0 and Opera Presto. I fired up Tor and with a Canadian exit node (167.114.89.195 - tor-node.golden-gryphon.com) I could reach the site without any problem using K-Meleon 75.1.

K-Meleon's code is based on Firefox ESR. Firefox doesn't have the MP4 decoder built-in natively because MP4 is a proprietary codec. AFAIK, Google and Microsoft are coowners of that codec. However if the OS has the splitter/decoder built-in, Firefox will use it to play MP4 files. Same applies for K-Meleon. On Windows7 I can watch MP4 streams or locally saved MP4 files with K-Meleon.

@Mark Blain K-Meleon's code is based on that of Firefox ESR. Newest Firefox ESR have pdf.js built in. Hence a future version of K-Meleon will probably have it built in as well. As handy as it might look at first glance, keep in mind that this feature might pose security and privacy risks. IMHO, best practice is to disable this feature in browsers and open PDF-files with a dedicated vie

Quoteclutterless I haven't googled about this problem, so I don't know if it's common or just a glitch with my operating system. I'm extremely reluctant to walk away from my favorite browser, but what else can I do? You might want to read this thread first. More precisely - it would make sense to specify if incopatible sites work with the Firefox(Gecko) version K-meleon&

QuoteBy bundling security updates with non-security patches and installing them via a rollup, users will be forced to install whatever Micro$oft wants you to have which is undoubtedly going to include telemetry patches and other dubious snooping apps. Not only that but like JohnHell points out, from October 2016 Microsoft will push those cumulative updates on Win7 and Win8.1 too. It means that

QuoterodocopNow about JonDoFox - as I combined it with K-Meleon I was able to test it - and it really does the job of antifingerprinting. It was tested on 2 tests mentioned by me earlier. Aren't you recognized here each time you do the test? QuoterodocopWell, try this test I did test last year with quite modest results, I mean cross-browser detection didn't work during my tests. Thei

QuoterodocopYes, the only way to hide yourself is to use anonimous profile (like one in JonDoFox) I have my doubts regarding that magic profile of JonDoFox. I assume that it's primarily advertisment for their product. However if you have the necessary time and intentness, you could install the JonDo-Portable and take a closer look at prefs.js of their Firefox browser. I assume all changes

QuoteguenterYour IP are fairly unique already. AFAIK most people in Germany have dynamic assigned IP-numbers. Even with a static IP-number the remote server can see only the gateway. Behind a gateway can be dozens of computers. QuoteguenterWeb bugs, the content of Your cache, flash cookies can be used. I have disk cache disabled - no noticeable delay on a fast connection and a decent device.

Quotesmallhagrid And in that is suggested Torbutton, which I had not heard of before. Bear in mind that support of Torbutton has ceased. The End of Torbutton The above article is dated, May 2nd, 2011. As for Torbrowser it's overkill for everyday browsing. It will slow down your browsing and might break (some? many?) sites.
