Java works normally (I tried some simple java demos I found via google and a java-based IRC chat) for me when I delete that weird npjp2.dll ("Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_21 for Mozilla browsers") from bin\new_plugin, but honestly, I have no idea what that plugin does at all and which consequences deleting it might have, but it certainly causes the this is not firefox 3! error.

QuoteSoerenB If (a) isn't true, you don't really need it, IMHO - K-M probably loading faster than your previous browser was. It's my mother's PC and the loader is greatly helpful. I just can't talk her into buying a newer PC. :| I'll ninja some more RAM into it some day. QuoteIf (b) isn't true, the loader is a constant additional thing to keep in mind: you

Hello, I use k-m 1.5.4 and I just installed the latest java update (21), but I get this error whenever I try to use it with k-m. http://s7.directupload.net/images/user/100715/fsvey84v.png Is there any way to avoid that? Secondly, I have a minor question about the k-m quickstarter/loader which I will just post since I already started a thread. I set the browser to start maximized, however, w

QuoteYogi QuoteRockspechtOpera uses a lot memory for the "reopen a closed tab feature", please don't forget that. Admitting that you are right, raises at least 2 questions worth to think about. 1. What's the large benefit of storing closed tabs in memory anyway? Honestly, it's one of the many many features of Opera I rarely use. I have the sites I open and close all

Opera uses a lot memory for the "reopen a closed tab feature", please don't forget that. Does Fx actually have a similar feature by default? I don't know. I'm excited to see km 1.6's speed, but I don't want to mess around with unofficial releases as well as how huge Fx's memory usage will be once they release their new Javascript engine. It might skyrocket

QuoteK-Meleon may have a cute animal icon, but it’s certainly not the most user-friendly browser we’ve ever come across. Right from the get-go, this old-fashioned browser will leave even experienced users bewildered – let alone the computing novices who may stumble across K-Meleon in the EU browser ballot. I find this very beginning quite interesting already. I agree with the icon, but I

QuoteAirSpirit look at Opera 10.50 for example Opera took that speed advantage at the cost of compatibility, especially with workarounds for ie. However, using Opera, I wonder what the speed advantage through hardware accelarating is really worth. I mean, most browser can render pages that quickly, is becoming a few microseconds faster worth dropping support for popular OS's?

I was hoping that an ongoing development of ie would make it easier for web designers in terms of compatibility with ie. But this is just as worse as the decision to stop development on ie6 some time ago. Now ie8 will lurk around on xp just as ie6 did it for years.

Opera since years, since version 9.0 or so. I love the comfort (esp. the built-in e-mail client), Firefox with its add-ons feels too clumsy imo. However on my mother's PC, I took ie away from her because I was concerened about security (I doubt she'd visit any dubious sites, but you never know) and gave her Opera. But as Opera showed to be too resource-intensive recently, I was looki
