Can I just remove my old 1.0.2 RC leaving the profiles and install this one
in that old folder to use those old profiles? I would really hate to have do
re do literally dozens of profiles if I can avoid it.

I downloaded 1.02 from File Forum & installed it over the previous version. Smooth as silk. Also, it kep my settings intact. I am overjoyed!!!
Thank you Dorian and all others who maintain THE best browser there is.

I did exactly the same (1.0.2 from 'Download') and it appears to have overwritten all my old profiles, settings, blah... (Win 98). This is not good. Bellgamin, what OS are you using?

I installed over the pervious version and it did just fine. Only thing I had to do was replace back.bmp with the file I use as background. I am running Wix XP home. Thanks for the good work.

@kes I am using XP SP2,. Sorry to hear about your problem.
By the way, I always make an image before installing software (using Image for DOS -
http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image.html), so I can quickly & easily restore my computer to a prior *good state* in case of a disasterous install.

If you talk about layers,
Edit > Advanced Preferences > Navigation > Navigation in layers > Use layers only
A+

@ kes I thought an installation over 1.01 might mess the profiles, so I uninstalled 1.01 first (not the complete uninstall, though) and lost the connection to my profiles anyway -- they're on a separate hard drive. I had to redo profile.ini. I don't have this problem with SeaMonkey. I'm using Win98, too.
@ bellgamin I've been using the partitioning and imaging tools of Terabyte Unlimited's BootIt NG for 4 years (a Microsoft MVP recommended it for aligning clusters prior to a FAT32 > NTFS conversion under WinXP). I've needed the images a couple times. And because I have, I keep browser profiles on a separate drive.
