I have uploaded to Rapidshare a new version K-Meleon-ME1.7.12-mod-fromCD.
Runs only from CD which is drive D:
No files will be written on the harddrive.
Unzip the zip file into a fresh folder on your harddisk and burn only the folder ProgramFiles3 and its contents on a CD. Click on k-meleon.exe in the folder K-Meleon09 and the plugins installation will start.
You can prepare a homepage.html, bookmarks.html and opera.adr on a floppy disk, if you have access. When you are asked for it, after starting the browser, search for the path to it on your floppy. If you do not have bookmarks, click on the empty bookmarks/opera in the K-Meleon09 directory.
There will be no history and no cache.
Groups do not work.
Ads are not blocked.
Some other menu items may possibly not work.
Security updated to Mozilla 1.7.12 Standard.
Various search macros have been added.
Aggreg8 (RSS) included.
Read the "read me" file (link on the start page).
Based on the work of Douglas and Christian.
Download at:

http://rapidshare.de/files/5703695/K-Meleon-ME1.7.12-mod-fromCD.zip.html

Press the button "FREE" at the bottom of the page (javascript enabled) ,
and unzip the zip-file into a fresh folder.
Burn only the folder ProgramFiles3 and its contents on a CD.

What do you do if you have two hard drives? Is there any script or any other sort of automated process that will change the drive letters from D: to E: or some other drive letter?

Before burning your CD
you would have to change manually in the file
ProgramFiles3/K-Meleon09/defaults/pref/prefs.js
in the four lines:

user_pref("kmeleon.general.homePage", "file:///D:/ProgramFiles3/K-Meleon09/startpage.htm");
user_pref("kmeleon.general.pluginsDir", "D:\\ProgramFiles3\\K-Meleon09\\kplugins\\");
user_pref("kmeleon.general.skinsDir", "D:\\ProgramFiles3\\K-Meleon09\\skins\\")
user_pref("kmeleon.general.sourceCommand", "D:\\ProgramFiles3\\K-Meleon09\\notepad.exe");

D: to the letter of the CD-Drive.

You can also burn different versions for different drive letters on your CD, if you
burn different additional ProgramFiles folders for every different drive letter, like
ProgramFiles4 for E:
ProgramFiles5 for F:
ProgramFiles6 for G:
ProgramFiles7 for H:
adjust the four lines above for every prefs.js concerning the specific ProgramFiles
folder (changing the ProgramFiles number and the drive letter).

Thank you very much, Fred. This could come in very handy for when I am not at home.

To get control over adverts, you can use Proxomitron,
which needs no installetion, can be unzipped and moved
then to the CD and does not write on the harddisk either.
To use it in the default configuration, just start it from CD,
start the browser, and in
Preferences-->Proxy-->Manual Proxy Configuration
use HTTP 127.0.0.1 Port 8080 .
If you want your own default.cfg in Proxomitron,
you would have to configure that before moving the
Proxomitron program to the CD.
You can block almost everything with it.
Download of the german version (English help included) at:
