Thought I'd just post this for anybody who is interested in checking it out.
It appears that finally there is another Gecko based browser being developed for Windows. Dr. Orca is only in the early stages of development, but is stable and fast enough for anyone who is interested. The developer is Anderson Che, who also works on the well known IE-Based Avant Browser, in fact the interface of Dr. Orca is very similar to Avant Browser in looks, appearance and functionality.
Dr. Orca v1.0 Alpha 002 download information is available currently in the forums:
http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewforum.php?f=26&sid=9c70428a91030d68faaed02c1578b8e9
The current alpha is based upon Firefox v1.0.6. and is very speedy in rendering pages. Do note however that it is an "alpha" and there are some bugs/issues to be found.

Yeah silly name, however the browser itself does look promising. Only downside is you can't adapt or change anything via macros. The feature set therefore is pretty much set to what Anderson puts into it, which is the same thing for Avant.
But still it will appeal to some, as it has Groups, Tabs, Mouse Gestures, Skins etc. You know the standard stuff browsers should have.

Sounds very interesting. I'm on my way over there to look at it.
Thanks, Al.

Hmm. I agree it looks good. He has some components straight out of Firefox in it.
Avant is an IE shell, but Orca is a freestanding, fair-and-square browser in its own right??? Pretty impressive for one man.
People will have a whale of a time with it. I hope it doesn't end up with our Lizard in its gizzard.

Dan! It's a very promising browser. In some sense, it will help gecko gain more market share from IE.

sylera, Sleipnir ... my spelling, lets make k-m more indepedent of limited GRE
and our devs can work on improvements (maybe "general" forum would ..do?)
- and are not creating mostly compatibility with GRE like Dorian seems to do now.
If we had a browser more independent of GRE forum could incrementally get further!
it has been already stated that "ora" lacks options to change what we can change.
thx to our current officials Al, Andrew, jsnj, Ulf and those before them.
& thx to unofficials like Dorian; Hao; Fred, Jan, Eyes-Only, Monkee-Sage
and those before them.

Hmm, time for bed. Not a bad day. Dale had his K-Meleon rescued, and Guenter beached a whale. There is never a dull moment in K-Meleon.
And the lizard just smiles . . . .

Yep, that's pretty much where the ol' Dr's appeal ends. Unlike NetWorker at least Orca isn't based upon embedding a full Mozilla installation via the Active X control into the browser itself, however as there really isn't any way of "fine-tuning" Orca, well I guess it just ends up being a beached whale like Carson has suggested.

Well that indeed would be the challenge, maybe developing K-Meleon to an extent that the GRE part of it becomes just a matter of "snapping it in" when it comes time for an update.
