just tried it, it appears to have a problem using backspace as Back button for the browser.

There was a patch for the backspace key but one of the file to patch "res/builtin/platformHTMLBindings.xml" doesn't exist anymore.

Thanks Hao for this build (I have only just downloaded it).
There are a few dll's that have the "read only" attribute in some of the recent builds, and one file set as "system". I found that out while moving and renaming some folders. I don't know that it has any effect on the normal operation of K-Meleon.
msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll are read-only files in K-MeleonCCF 0.020CNFinal (Chinese-only build from 6-25)
msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll are read-only files in K-MeleonCCF 0.020a (Chinese-only build from 7-09)
Thumbs.db is a system file in K-MeleonCCF 0.020a. Thumbs.db is [afaik] an artifact of some graphics programs and can be deleted.
msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll are read-only files in K-MeleonCCF0.03Alpha1 (from 7-16)
msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll are read-only files in K-MeleonCCF 0.03Alpha2 (from 7-17)
msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll are read-only files in K-MeleonCCF 0.03Alpha4 (from 7-20)
(note: the msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll of the Wechselbalg 1.8a2 build are not read only)
The mfc71.dll's in these builds are not read only, but there's something odd:
The mfc71.dll from Wechselbalg says it's version 7.10.3077.0 and is 1,060,864 bytes, but the mfc71.dll's, (which also say version 7.10.3077.0) from , CCF0.03Alpha1, CCF 0.03Alpha2, and CCF 0.03Alpha4 are 450,048 bytes...... curiouser and curiouser

Are these 0.03 alpha builds static or non-static? I'm guessing that they're non-static since they take nearly twice as long to load up than your static 1.78 one, but maybe these one just have more files to load or something? (Browsing speed of these builds is faster than the browsing speed of the 1.78 static ones, but the loading speed of the 1.78 statics is much faster than the load speed of these ones.)

(had to close 0.03 alpha 1 and open 1.78 to see exactly which version it was)
The 1.78 static build I'm comparing these new ones to is the CCF minimum edition 0.01.

@ vincent : I believe the file size diff is because Hao uses UPX to compress .exe & .dll files for a smaller download size.
UPX: the Ultimate Packer for eXecutables - Homepage
@ drahken : I think it's a static build.
(
[Thank Dorian!] K-MeleonCCF 0.03 alpha1 ) He mentions his build config & has static enabled.
Of course he's probably changed these settings since he's been coming out with new versions every half hour or so.
Hao, you're newly married, you should be spending more time in bed relaxing.

Crap.
The link for the forum worked but not the external to
http://upx.sourceforge.net/#unstable
I wonder if that's because Ulf made some url spam changes ?

thx Dorian and Hao - great - all working except redundant backspace
- i do not need it as long a gestures work ; o ))
IMHO it is not a statik built (yet). Still dev phase - probably too early for that linking.
(linking would be probably more time consuming?)
xpt are not linked yet. // the linking of these influences start-up time much.
dll are not statikly linked yet.
(each linked dll will later save about 20kb and some overhead when running)
chrome still contains many redundancies (afaik influences both).
(might be very difficult to cut down with this version ? whether it will be done )
I tested last night with not completely compatible cut down old chromes and linked xpt and - what was the old song like: "You aint seen nothing yet"? ...
Dorian and Hao have not yet reached the end of the pole (or is it top in English?).
regards

Here's a tip for anyone who prefers a download dialog rather than the download manager:
Go to about:config and search for browser.downloadmanager.behavior Set it to 1 for the download dialog, 0 for the manager, or 2 to not show anything.

Thank you very very much, Drahken. I was actually just about to ask that question, but you took care of it for me:-). Thanks!
