This is a new version of the original 0.9 lay-out
based on Mozilla 1.8b2 nightly of june/10th/2005
K-Meleon0.9-original-updated-1.8b2-5 ,
because many people want to have a simpler version.
New Frame Injection Vulnerability bug fixed.
---
Aggreg8 now working.
Downloads possible by extra program.
https-files are now supported.
The 3 original skins are included.
Additional macros can be enabled in menus.cfg .
Let me point out, that this is also still an experimental version.
Proceed with care. 1.8b2 means 1.8 Beta 2.
Read the "read me"-Startpage.
Thanks to Hao for k-meleon.exe and Guenter for chrome.
Download at :
http://rapidshare.de/files/2333075/K-Meleon0.9-original-updated-1.8b2-5.exe.html
Press the button "FREE" at the bottom of the page (javascript enabled) ,
and extract the self-extracting .exe into a fresh folder.

P.S.
To view history, right-click the history button and select "view history"
or use Ctrl+H, because left click does not show the correct window.
This is caused by the toolbar configuration of the usual skins for 1.7.x .
Delete history by deleting it in the history.xul window. The privacy plugin
does not delete history in 1.8b2.

I noticed that your most recent releases are not on the builds list.
You probably haven't had time to place them there. But I was
hoping that you could tell me if there are any others missing,
both old and new.

With this KM build, when I left-click a link to download a file, KM displays the Mozilla Download window which works fine.
But how change the folder used by "Save to Disk" ?
Now, with Win XP "Save to disk" use always "Local Settings/Temp".

You could add to user.js of your profile directory (browser closed)
the line
user_pref("kmeleon.general.saveDir", "C:\\yourselecteddirectory\\");
save it as "all files" not as "text" and restart the browser.
As the browser is still buggy, there could be problems, when
you change things in your profile.
Should the browser deny to start, delete the folder Profiles and
add the line in defaults/profile/user.js .
Restart would create a new profile.
I hope that it works.

@ searching for all k-meleons
Some of the downloads of inofficial older versions may have been
deleted by their makers .But most of the available ones seem
to be listed.

Thanks for your reply,
kmeleon.general.saveDir and kmeleon.general.saveLinkDir refer to my download folder. Besides "Save Link As" launches the KM download window and use my download folder.
Only when I left-click a link, Mozilla download window opens instead KM download window and I don't know how to change the download folder.

@ Batifol
you could try a Mozilla preference :
user_pref("browser.download.dir", "C:\\yourdirectory\\");

@ Fred,
you could try a Mozilla preference :
user_pref("browser.download.dir", "C:\\yourdirectory\\");|/i]
does not resolve the problem.
And, curiously enough, the downloaded file is saved always in "Local Settings/Temp" with another name.
For instance, WackGet1.2.2.zip is saved with a randomly name "pwmedtu1.zip" .

Actually the download manager in Fred's 1.8b2 builds have never been broken, just bent (because of the more general dialog-box and focus problems. Try starting a download-link by clicking on it and at the download dialog choose "Open it with:"
and TYPE into the space the full-path-and-name (including extension) of some applictaion that will accept files of any type (like a file-manager or text-editor).
The download manager will open properly, the file will start to save itself (as most Windows-OS temporary or undirected downloads do...) to the (user's-profile\Local Settings\) "Temp" directory with a temporary (random-garbage) name. When the download is complete, the fact that the file is being passed to another program will trigger the Windows-OS to rename it to it's real-name, and the application you chose to open it with will open. You should be able to find the file with the "Show File Location" button on the download manager; or if you chose an file-manager like Metapath it will open to the Temp directory. If you chose a text-editor like TheGun (
http://www.movsd.com/thegun.htm), you can read the location of the downloaded file off the titlebar (don't try to save the downloaded file as text, that may break it).

Apologies for some misplaced parentheses above.
I just wanted to add that it's not hard to use these 1.8b2 builds for dowloads; but it is harder to save images.
I also wanted to say that Firefox also has a 1.8b2-Gecko variant called "Deer Park Alpha 1" (
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/deerpark/). I don't yet know what will be needed to make a K-Meleon out of it.
