I'm typing this in K-MeleonCCF 0.019 Final, Vancouver time 6.45 p.m. Monday. I have just put it up, as my 3rd Hao K-Meleon of six operating K-Ms I have on my desktop at the moment.

I'll work on it a lot more tomorrow. First impression is its very nice slim toolbar design, which, for my likings, is very close to the way I want it.

Just moving around on it the little bit I have so far, this rendition has a nice quick feel. I know this is a much-disputed topic, especially as an 0.9 is an 0.9, and yet to me there is a definitive "feel" to each and every browser I use. I can usually spot a favourite in my first 5 minutes using it. Sometimes I prove myself wrong, but a lot of the time that build really does turn out to be a very good one.

Truth be known, I love this "to Emily" series, because those are real and precious sentiments. A browser is inanimate and lives in a world more virtual than real, and yet a browser runs errands for our imaginations and our creative thinking and our artistry--'tis magic. A little good karma never hurts. :-)

Thank you very much, Hao Jiang, once again.

Hi, Maty:
For "Final", I know this version is still buggy and some functions added should be considered a lot more. But the point is many people who are using my version is still using my 0.018 Final version and hesitate to use my new version because of 'PR' tag which they think is beta. So now I think this version is stable enough to let more people to use it. And I 'm going to move on to work on my 0.020 PR series which is probably based on Gecko 1.8(Not sure at this moment.)
For "Cyberarticle", I know this is not a good choice to put a shareware in my version. But this software works perfectly with my KM. I know some other free alternatives like Code Library.net which is also a good webpage collector. However it is not working very well with KM. A lot of my friends are using CyberArticles and I also buy this good soft and I like it, use it every day. So I put it in at this moment. I am considering to remove it in my later version and make a choice to users to select the tools they want to use. Is that OK? smiling smiley

Dear Mr. Jiang,
A friend of mine has your CCFO.019PR4 on her computer. She said I should
download it as she thought it was faster and more functional than the regular
K-Meleon .9. I also like the weather link on it. Problem is we're both novices.
When she installed hers the folder had an item just marked K-Meleon. That
was of course the one to click for the browser to open. Now whenever we
download it & install there is not one of these.

Help! Please

Definitions:
download = bringing a file or program in from the Internet to your computer
install = setting that program up so it is "alive" on your computer, which is a separate operation from downloading
"call up", "bring up", "start" [or whatever you like to say] = pressing the button that starts your program working, which is not the same as the first two; this is your day-to-day operation

1. In your Windows Explorer: TOOLS >Folder Options >View >[UNCHECK] Hide extensions for known file types.

2. While you're there, make sure you have [CHECK] Show hidden files and folders.

3. "When she installed hers the folder had an item just marked K-Meleon. In that folder, you want to find the file called EXACTLY this: k-meleon.exe . It must say NOTHING ADDITIONAL to that. It will be marked by the green Chameleon, but so are a few other files. Note: You won't be able to see the (very important) .exe unless you have done (1). "Exe" means "execute", or "activate"; as in an "executive" in business.

4. RIGHT-click on k-meleon.exe.

5. A drop-down menu should show the option to SEND TO... Left-click on that.

6. Now it extends, and you left-click on DESKTOP (Create Shortcut).

7. Now clean up your mess; close all your open stuff until you just see your desktop. There will be a new green happy K-M chameleon icon on it. You can rename him if you RIGHT-click on him (Properties). Whenever you LEFT-click on him, you'll call up K-Meleon. (Notice I said "you'll CALL UP". Not "install".)

-- Try all this out and see if it works for you. Give it some thought and enjoy it. After that, if you have more questions, create a thread (New Topic) and make your Subject the closest you can to your question. (Never "Need Help"!!)

-- At first it's tricky. You'll both be experts in no time! (Hmm. No time = 6 months, okay?) :-)

4.

Hi, Miss Unknown:
There should be one folder in my package. You should be able to unpack the package by double click the .exe file you downloaded. Then you go into that folder, double click the K-Meleon.exe file to run it. You can also create a shortcut for this exe file at desktop for your convinience. Does it clear any confusion? If not, don't hesitate to ask. I am here for your questions.

I read through your macros and when copying everything must go through the clipboard. That's a nice feature for those who need it, but for myself the clipboard is wasteful as far as my cpu's, what can I do to enable just regular copy and paste without using the clipboard Hao?

Hm. I'm using two Copy/Paste methods. Control-C /-V is via the clipboard, right? That works. But f the Right-click on the mouse also WFM. Is that clipboard, too?

You can try to use the built-in KM command ID_COPY (Don't remember clearly, go through the command list if not right) to do the copy and paste.

It looks very nice, Hao. :-) I don't read Chinese, but I have always loved the characters. Here in Vancouver, Chinese is everywhere--it must be as useful as English, as the city has a huge percentage of people from Korea, Japan, China, and Taiwan.

I was asking recently about Traditional versus Simplified Chinese lettering, and I was told that everyone can read both, but now only some people can write in Traditional (of which there are about ten variations). Fascinating! And yet I find it sad to see the beautiful detailing replaced by simple lines. There must be something I don't know, because I would think Traditional Chinese would be used when computers are making the characters, but I see a lot of Simplified Chinese everywhere on the Internet. ???
