Drag and Drop to Linkman Software?

Hi,

I posted on this forum once last week and got a GREAT and fast response, so here goes again:

I use software called "Linkman" to manage hundreds of bookmarks/IE favorites. It displays a "drop basket" that I can put along the edge of my screen. If I want to bookmark a web page, I simply "drag" the favicon or even just the right-side of the URL and drop it onto the Linkman basket. That adds it to my link library.

In K-Meleon, I haven't found a way to do this. When I put my cursor on the URL, it won't "drag" anything anywhere.

Suggestions?

I really love the speed of K-Meleon. And there are some websites which I go to that won't display right in Firebird, which WILL display correctly in K-Meleon. Plus, K-M is noticeably faster all around than Firebird.

But if I can't drag-and-drop URLs into Linkman with it, I may be forced to go back to Mozilla or Firebird.

I, too, am hooked on being able to drag my urls to file them away either manually or with 3p utils, SO PLEAAASE --- tell us how or make it posible if it's not currently.

Or just give me a good idea where to start poking around in the source and i'll do it myself!

hm, found a little something that those of us who want drag & drop in the url bar can do for now... but i will either persuade the dev.s to get it implemented or do it myself... but for now... it is possible to do a right-click, and then select view page info and then there pops up a new window with the url of the page you just view-infoed that CAN be drag & dropped

only trouble with that is that:
- it's obnoxious
- if the page was loaded out of the cache, the url that shows up has a cache data prefix, but then the correct url of the page does follow, so you can still drag drop the url then fix it easily enough after doing so

so... possibly the fastest way to 'implement' drag & drop capability on the main browser screen so drag & drop can be done in one step might be to maybe just add a toolbar with a drag & droppable 'link' on it that updates to be the current url every time the currently viewed url changes. i'd be happy with that... but am i right to think it's possible? if so, tips and/or info/pointers on how pleaaase!

Hey Lantash,

Thanks for the tip. It is pretty awkward, but it's better than nothing. I truly hope you and/or the devs can implement this feature.

Thanks again for your help! I'm afraid I'm about as ignorant as you could imagine and no help at all for figuring out how to make K-Meleon work with drag-and-drop like this, but I'm sure it would be a great feature if you or others could find out a way.

I don't know how Linkman stores its entries, but it maybe it's possible to rewrite the 'send link to desktop script' on http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?f=1&i=27152&t=27152 so you can send a link to Linkman from K-Ms right-click menu or a custom button on a toolbar?
