Anyone know if ReminderFox can be ported over to KM?

no..the configuartion or setting alarms dialogues can probbaly launch from kmeleon but the alerts work from the xul statusbar or other xul specific ui..so even if some parts can be ported it will not work as a reminder because it can't find xul ui to create or check the alerts. this can be much easier in autoit..probably even better than xulfox and even with sound alerts not just visuals

If we go to Webkit, will porting still be needed - could addons for Chrome be installed in Km directly?

Have no idea if anyone is really considering Webkit right now. I suspect that Gecko 1.9.3 will end up working with Km, just not yet. As for now, getting KM 1.6 out the door is enough for our little community. <sigh>

I know, I know. But I read in forum (desga two) about it and i wondered what good will come out of it if we change to Webkit, that's all.

We should be all grateful if v1.7 ever see the light of day.

this can never be done panzer. google chrome has its own api so the webkit engine isn't the only limitation. also, chromium webkit has other differences from regular qtwebkit browsers, for example it accepts commands specific to chromium-based browsers and other webkitters won't understand.. that's why you can't install or port chrome extensions to safari, arora or midiori. chrome extensions can only work on direct clones of chromium like srware iron or chromeplus.

don't be so pessimistic. major trunk migrations always take some time but updates within the same build are much more frequent

Well, any ideas on something similar that will work with KM? I really need something to jog my memory daily!

there's no need for a reminder/todo app to be running through a browser. don't think it's practical because you'll miss the events if the browser isn't running. thos are much better as desktop apps, i use rainlendar .22 which is the last freeware after that he made it shareware. it displays neatly on the desktop:

they should be running at startup naturally but both use very little memory
