I installed but KM 1.5beta encounters an error and quits. I am using Wix XP SP2 and installed in C\program file\k-meleon. I had deleted the folder prior to installing. There is a bunch of info about the problem, but I don't know how to copy it.
I am getting errors using the menu File->Exit K-Meleon. The first attempt gives no result and the second attempt results in a crash. Not sure where to send the error report. If I use the close window button in the top right corner or any combination of keystrokes, it closes fine.
@JamesD - perhaps since Dorian made this an install file rather than a zip file, it is possible that (if you are using more than one K-Meleon version) that inadvertantly the 1.5beta was installed as multi-user rather than installing it as a local (using profile.ini) It may be that 1.5b overwrote your K-M 1.1.4 or new 1.1.5 or even 1.5alpha version and there were files from the earlier K-M (found in the \Documents and Settings\yourname\ApplicationData\K-Meleon) that are incompatible in the profile located there. Just deleting the program under \Program Files\K-Meleon does not eradicate the profile found under \Documents and Settings.
If you intend to use K-M 1.5b as multi-user, you may need to delete the contents from \Documents and Settings and re-install. You will, however, lose bookmarks, iconcache and passwords if you do not copy these items as a backup to be put back.
I chose to un-check the multi-profile item in the installation. I also changed the favorites from bookmarks to ie favorites. I un-checked the set default and also left only the quick launch shortcut to be installed. My profile is new - wc7iyhns.default - and is inside KM. I have done the install twice with an uninstall between. The uninstall did not get rid of everything. The skins folder and k-meleonw9x.exe were left behind. I deleted these items. I did tell the uninstall to delete my profile.
I do have KM 1.5a1 and 1.5a2 loaded but each has its own profile within its own folder. Neither of these was running at the time I installed 1.5beta.
Do you think I should download again? Any suggestions welcome.
I got it working. I think there was something bad in the registry. I ran two registry clean programs after I uninstalled. Then I rebooted the computer. Looks like it is OK now. I did not do another download. I did change the folder name prior to the registry clean programs running. Lost the icons for certain file types but that is no problem.
Excellent!
Thank you Sir Drian and Developers.
But,I want the version without the installer, too if possible
Because it takes trouble to set Profile again.
I want a function like Profile manager of Firefox which can set Profile in the arbitrary place if I can do it.
--I am Japanese as follows UTF-8
私はFireFoxのような方法でのProfileの位置を設定出来ることを望みます。
firefox.exe -profilemanager

This is a tab problem, same problem as with 1.5a2. In fact I have found that the tab bar isn't in the toolbar list (View > Toolbar). I suppose it's not handled like a toolbar, and perhaps can't be moved.
@Dorian,
Bug 971, 982 and 990 are gone.
But another bug perhaps linked with 982 (?). Changing language works for xul, but not for menus.
Another bug with toolbars: I put ULR bar and Go Buttons at the right of the menus.
Locked or not, if I quit and reload, URL bar or Go Buttons have gone elsewhere.

I un-checked the bookmarks plugin during install and checked the IE favorites. IE favorites were in menu but bookmarks were there also. I fixed using preferences but the bookmarks item should not have appeared.
I like the tabs for new, previous, next and close to be on menu line next to the little fire breather. I do not run tab bar when only one tab so I don't have a new tab item now.
And it is still shipping with a dysfunctional profile.dll :-(
I am now recommending Adblock Plus users to remove chrome/profile.dll when installing in K-Meleon 1.5. This component is unused and not initialized properly - yet there is no way for Adblock Plus to recognize that.

Gah! I'm not sure how the profile component did get there. The installer is even supposed to delete it. I'll try to fix that asap

I tried the 'locales' folder(form 1.15zh-CN) can be used in version 1.5a2, but can not be used in version 1.5Bate. Please tell me why? Thanks!
Sorry but 1.1.x locales are not compatible with 1.5 and need to be updated.

Previous Tab, Next Tab, New Tab, and Close Tab seem to be on their on line and cannot be moved like other modular icons in the Phoenity theme?
Check the tab toolbar options in kmprefs.

For 1.5 beta 2
If possible, add "menu toolbar" to [view - > Toolbars] menu, and like other toolbars, do not require a restart to hide/show the menu toolbar. And an icon to access the menu (beside acce. key) when menu toolbar is hidden (eg. right-click on the right-most icon).
ok now for the translation, it was just the version number to adapt in kmeleon.dll. I had made translation of the 1.5a2 version, and I find curious that it can't work with 1.5.0b.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-FR; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080406 K-Meleon/1.5.0beta
Just a little problem with kmprefs, where locales are included in kmprefs.jar, and where locales are declared in en-US.manifest and in kmprefs.manifest, with values which aren't compatable. I suppose that locales will be included in xx-YY.jar
For the file profile.dll, I suppose it was in the source folder when generating the setup.
Bad news for spellcheck, it crashes now with 1.5.0b and not with 1.5.a2
I have tried to replace id("spelltest()") by plugin(spelltest,""), Spellcheck works, as it underlines the miss-spelled words, but impossible to call spelltest to have the purposed words. But a thing important, I have no more crash since I use plugin() instead of id().

I've unpacked manually the exe file, and moved the directories inside $[21] to the main one. $PLUGSINIDIR, i've left alone. The profile is inside main directory, and a profile.ini is present, as usually done up to now.
The problem is that once I've arranged the toolbars to my liking, when I restart they don't keep their position. The alphas never were as capricious.
I usually put the main icons to the right of the text menu bar, and keep the URL bar almost alone in just below.
Also: The bookmark icons don't show up, just the text!
I think a plain 7z file, ready to be uncompressed and run may be more reassuring to us who don't like installers. :-)
It's just what I said some post before, we can't put something on the same line as dmenus, it's automaticly, after a restart, put in another line.
@Dorian,
I have made a test, after having arranged the toolbars, I have opened prefs.js and preserved toolbands values.
I have then closed K-Meleon.
I have compared the values between prefs.js and preserved values. It was the same => K-Meleon saved correctly changes.
When opening K-Meleon again, a lot of prefs are killed or modified, and obviously, bar are deplaced.

So no one else is having this issue? I'm using XP Professional with the unofficial SP3.
Yes, this is a bug. Also this happend in my Win2000 SP4.
File -> Exit K-Meleon => Crash
Access to "Exit K-Meleon" with keyboard Alt+F => Exit OK
Click over close window button in the top right corner => Close OK
File -> Close Window => Close OK
Alt+F4 => Close OK
Ctrl+Alt+F4 => Close OK
All close options in right click contextmenu over "Close Tab" button close OK.
about the 1.5beta version... everything is working great except for the mouse gesture makes KM crash in Vista... in XP it's all fine.... and i have a fresh install of Vista with sp1.
@ dpcdpc11:
You says us the problem: Vista not K-Meleon Mouse Gestures
Really mouse gestures not makes KM crash in Vista, Vista makes KM's mouse gestures crash.
