Plugin for application/x-mplayer2
Date: May 23, 2009 09:14AM
Hi,
I am trying to watch a streaming channel and I keep getting the error message which says I need to install a plugin for application/x-mplayer2. The page then takes me to the following link in microsoft.com :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/alldownloads.aspx
Now Windows Media Player 11 is working fine on my laptop: on both Internet Explorer and Firefox where I can watch the streaming just fine. Since K-Meleon is based on Firefox, I am not sure why I am getting this error.
Thanx
-Gct

everything from windows 2000 has been built on NT so that includes XP,Vista and Win 7. Sorry I forgot to inclue Vista. If it works let me know.

I went ahead and downloaded both and copied them to :
C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\kplugins
&
C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\plugins
Is this correct? I restarted K-Meleon but the issue is still there.

I don't know if this will work but it has for some people go to www.dll-files.com and get these two files
npdsplay.dll
npwmsdrm.dll
place those in your plugins folder. Let me know if it works

That's true. But some of the websites that I frequent, K-Meleon requires requires me to send the pages to Trident Render; which spoils the fun of browsing. Only IE works fine with every site I visit.
But then K-Meleon is much faster ...
