when just transfer the profile file, it seems not quite enough.

Between 1.1.X versions you can overwrite new profile with the old profile or simple use the old profile because only there are changes in Gecko engine, no changes in prefs or configs.

With next 1.5 release this actions isn't recommended because there are changes in prefs and configs. Old profiles might not work well.

If you just want to update your 1.1.x installation to a newer 1.1.y version, then simply install the new version on top of your old and you are done.

If you want to update from 1.1 to 1.5, you can install 1.5 on top of 1.1 too. Then start 1.5, open Edit > Preferences > Macro Extension, enable the module named "compat" and restart the browser. That's it.
