In
-ADVANCED PREFERENCES

In General & Window Diversion tabs, add to "In a new layer", a clickable sub-menu box saying "If an about:blank layer exists, re-use it".

Regards.

Bonjour Alain,

As usual, everybody is wrong, everybody is right ! smiling smiley

I missed precision in my request by unloading me on developers knowledge... sad smiley

K-Meleon 1.1.5

In General & Window Diversion tabs, all is "In a new layer"

(Re-use about:blank = good else bad !) :

General tab
- Favorites (IE favorites) = good
- Typed URLs = good
- Selected text (i.e www.google.com then "Open as URL") = bad

Window Diversion tab
- URLs passed from external applications = bad (that bothers me !)

Also very annoying for me, some items from "Help" button in general menu bar open in the last opened tab not in a new tab !

For help menu, there are a few cases:

1) 'about : plugin', 'about : k-meleon' : these menu entries call xul, and it opens by default in new folder for 'about : plugin' and in a popup for 'about : kmeleon'

2) 'K-Meleon Wiki' and 'Welcome to K-Meleon' : these entries call macros located in main.kmm, and replacing open by opennew in Open_KMReadme (line 648) and Open_KMWiki (line 651) in main.kmm do the trick

3) 'K-Meleon Web Site', 'K-Meleon Forums', 'Search on Forums', 'User Guide' and 'FAQ' : these entries use IDcommands, and it's here K-Meleon.exe which pilot the operture.

I have often ask, without success, about the possibility to choose the open mode.

But it can be modified (except for 'Search in forum' where it will be necessary to create a macro a little like old search method) by creating macros in main.cfg like for 2) and by modifying the menu entries in toolbars.cfg in skins folder.

A easier way (not to modify all these files) is to create a new kmm file which will delete help entries and create it using new macros (located in the same kmm file)

Maybe this time, you will be heard !
Thanks for this complete answer : if needed I'll experiment...

Amitiés.

[EDIT]
In first approach, for ["Menu Bar", "Help" item], when the menu has dropped, a right context menu with "Open in new..." can make the trick (in new layer or window following "Use layers only" tweak).

Bonjour Alain,

It works just fine ! smiling smiley

Besides, in this forum, I'm goofing somewhere for encoding because it seems that I compose in Latin ISO-8859-1 and to read your messages correctly I have to use UTF-8. sad smiley
