Hi guys,
I was doing some reading on this website and I noticed that the CPU jumped to 50% and memory climbing, almost froze my machine. My guess is was because the web page is extremely long and k-meleon is trying to load it as it gets bigger. As soon as I stopped loading the page it kept it in check.
I was wondering if the developers could put in a piece of code to reduce the page loading priority of that tab when such a thing happens. I love the browser, this is just a thought for future releases to make the browser even better. Thx.

if you compare that to the page being loaded in a different browser you may have installed? And on a fresh portable installation of K-M 1.6a4 (want to download and try desga2's cp2 from here?)

btw: which K-M version, OS, CPU + RAM specs?

Here, on 1.6a4 on XP SP3.5, Pentium 4 @ 2GHz, 1Gig DDR RAM:
CPU load is high only for short intervals, not really freezing the machine - but I have messed with my HOSTS file, none of those many googlead images are downloaded, I guess. (similar results in IE8 and FiFo 4.0b2).

Edit: where on that page did you get to the /art_dump_mod_1.htm section of their site? Looks like their complete articles database to me?
I'd assume chosing a different browsing approach, like their search, or their sitemap, would not cause these problems.

That is definitely a long page. At five minutes it was still loading on my 1.5.4. I wonder what possessed the designer to apply so much content on just one page.

Me too.... after several minutes I used Process Explorer to kill off K-Meleon. I'll never know if that page would have ever loaded. What bad coding!

Back again ...

IMHO K-Meleon devs can not do much about it.

The page calls a lot on other pages. And takes considerable time to fully load.
You find out this when You try to save the page.

If You have live html header extension installed have a look what is going on.

Also open the error console.
The JS parser is also very active till it is through this mess:

Do you really believe you need that very "art_dump" page to find any information that could not be found via the site's sitemap, search page, or forum's search?

I suspect this problem is not really a problem - not a K-Meleon specific problem, and not a browser problem. Well, maybe it's a browsing habits problem.

edit: if you search for that art_dump link in Google, no result BUT THE PAGE ITSELF is found - seems NO place in the www links there, really ... very strange ... newman, are you a hometip.com insider?
