Hi,

This sounds rather strange and not sure what is the sequence in which this happens or happened.

Initially it was working perfect. After a day whenever I open a new tab and enter the letter "w" as for "www", the kmeleon crashes. I tried other letters in keyboard but nothing happened, only with the letter "w". I use a german keyboard, but that should not be the problem
But this happened twice. In the first installation I had installed some additional skins. So guesssed it to be the reason. So I uninstalled and then reinstalled, Again the second day the same haoppened. this time no additional plugin / skins were installed.

I will try to get more information if it happens again.

It happened again. This time I was still accessing some internal pages related to work related bugs ( But I keep myself logged in all the time). even for the last 2 crashes the same. I installed K-mealon yesterday and today It crashed. I use the version 1.5.3.

I sighted www , just for example. But for me K-meleon crashes everytime I enter w, no matter where the position is. for eg : in w for wikipedia or any other sites.

Is possible that you have some bad accelerator for W key.
Are you defined some accelerator or installed some macro or extension recently?
Can you post some image aboout K-Meleon error when it crash?

Ich denk Doon hatte evt. auch eine interessante Spur, keine Ahnung, warum das jetzt wieder verschwunden ist. Es kann *vielleicht* auch an deiner History liegen, evt. eine Adresse mit Sonderzeichen im Namen oder sowas?? Die sich zwar das erstemal aufrufen lässt, aber später beim Aufruf aus dem Verlauf crasht, und der Verlauf poppt ja in der URL-Bar auf, sobald man anfängt zu tippen... Hab zwar noch nie von so einem Problem gehört, bin aber auch noch nicht so lange im Forum, und kenne selber keine Seiten mit so leichtsinnigen Namen ;-) Aber es hörte sich so an, als hätte er da schon mal ne ähnliche Erfahrung gemacht...

There are no accelerators or any macros defined, and there are no error pages either, K Meleon closes itself completely without any warning or message. But I have notied that this behavious happens only when I try to open some Excel or Word Doc / pdf. But the contents itself opens the second instance, without any error or crashing.

By default exist the next accelerator with "W" key:
CTRL W => Close current tab/window.
CTRL ALT W => Close all other tabs but not current active tab.
CTRL SHIFT W => Close all tabs.

Also this can be a bug with external pdf/Excel/Word plugins.

Hmm, there just occurs to me something....

Sometimes my keyboard unexplicably seems to think I'd have the AltGr button pressed, no idea how or when. Had quite some probs with that, until I finally figured this out!! (alas not the reason, just the "pressed" button). Now, if something doesn't work at all, and if I remember, I hit AltGr and quite often everything works fine again! And I'm rather sure I did not press that button accidentally before...

AltGr = Ctrl+Alt

Try clearing URL Bar History.
I don't remember the details but I had experienced the same issue before and that was about it.

When it crashed for the last time. I simple restarted my system and then everything is working normal once again and it is now more than 15 days and no crash so far. In all the previous installations, there was no system restart done after the installation. Might be something to do with that (Just a Guess). Will try some other options if it occurs again.
