Can't logon to Citibank
Posted by: ndebord

Suddenly I can't get into Citibank banking.

This is the error message I get.

javascript:void(null)

This is the web page:

https://online.citibank.com/US/JPS/portal/Index.do

Any help much appreciated. I've changed user agent string to FF 2 and FF 3.5 and back to default with no luck. JavaScript is enabled.

KM 1.5.3 with latest bugfix.

I just tried and first I got notice my password was not at least 6 characters long. I fixed that and then got a screen which told me that my information was not know. That was right. I do not have an account there. Using KM 1.5.3 with 1.8.1.23 engine on XP-SP3.

James,

Yeah, that is always the sore point: no account, no way to verify, except to note that it worked last week and now it doesn't. Works in FF 3.5.3, which is what I'm using. I figure something in this round of updates messed it up, but what?

Guenter,

That's not it... doesn't matter what user agent string I use. When I click on the signon icon, it just hangs and does nothing and gives me that null message. When I use FF 3.5.3 to login, it too hangs for a split second, then up comes the page. I think it is a javascript problem of some kind in K-Meleon.

Open error console?
Try with older K-Meleon?

p.s. This probably no K-Meleon bug but a city bank bug.
You know that normal spoofing gives away K-Meleon's ID?
View about:config vendor. See browser spy navigator.vendor.

Guenter,

This is not good... KM 1.0.2 (my zipped up old version) works just fine. When you say open error console??? Are you talking about the NULL message I got?

AAArrrrggghhhh.... OK, there is something wrong with my version. I reloaded a fresh version of KM 1.5.3, applied Desga2's update, moved my profile over and it works. Can't seem to get a couple of things working, but it is encouraging. Need to go through file by file to see. As I use single user, it can't be a profile issue in MY Documents, etc.

SIGH

OK - broken browser or profile can happen. sad smiley

If You use old profile location why not have several K-M ready to work?
Suggested install names: Banker, Forum,...

p.s. I am no City bank customer - but entrance page gave me XML error.
So I assumeed that other parts of the page might be faulty 2.

Guenter,

Normally I do keep separate backups, but KM 1.5.3 had been going so well, I just kept one and that one was current, so the problem cropped up. I am now going to try and update manually all of my settings onto the new one. Still don't know where the problem came from, but am happy that it works now. Think I'll keep Desga2's updated 1.02 as my backup though this time around (I had deleted it when I decided to make the move to the new maro language and 1.5.xxx browser).

Citibank, in the past, was the very first (to my knowledge) major bank in the US that supported Netscape Communicator along with Internet Explorer. I talked to one of their senior support techs years and years ago now who was as big a fan of Netscape as I was and that's saying something. <g>

P.S. Everything is going well, with a couple of small glitches. Oddity No. 1: Groups... they show up in prefs.js (from backup), but they don't show up. So had to manually click on them from a backup file and then recreate the Groups. Not a clue why. Cookie Culler, same thing... looked in the file and it should have been there, but nope. All minor stuff and it works fine now... all my financial sites, yahoo email (which has always been an issue with K-Meleon... caveat: have to use Yahoo Classic) and nothing else.

Why did it go wrong? I don't know. I did a fresh install. Used Desga2's update and copied over my Skin (Early Blue) with all its proprietary little extras, such as the weather bmp (thanks for the color desga2) from JamesD, Disrupted and Desga2 and etc. etc. etc...

I updated Banker with desga2 updater to see how it works. Absolutely smooth.
It is a heavily altered, ancient, often updated install.

Guenter,

Updated Banker??? Anyhow, when I did the fresh install, I ran Desga2's updater and it went flawlessly. So... it was something else that I mucked up somehow. After some work, I think everything is back to normal. Think I'll try on KeePass for a permanent password program though.

Guenter,

Ah, banker!!! <g,d&r> Roboform is something I looked it and for some reason passed on and never revisited it. Perhaps I should look at it again. If I recall, there were some issues with it and KM???

Yes. Roboform team does not support K-Meleon by including it into list sad smiley

The problem: 1.1.x macro that primed Roboform does not work for 1.5.x any more. sad smiley
But my XUL/dll hack still does. smiling smiley

So after installing Roboform plus the extension for 1.1.x I deleted alain's kmm.

Next: I created a session with 2 tabs.
1st loading chrome://roboform/content/roboNavigatorOverlay.xul
2nd loading URL of bank.

Local XUL file in 1st tab usually loads faster, if not - I open session again.
The later is rarely needed and invariably connects K-Meleon and Roboform.

Cave: XUL tab is only for priming Roboform.
It must not be used to surf (else bad crash), tab can be closed or open.

Limitation: Only lower toolbar functional.

I set Roboform itself to offer automatic filling and not to show Toolbar to give me more screen. So it pops up when things can be filled (known pass page) or can be stored (new pass page).
