Anyboy able to duplicate this problem I'm having. Try to login to CompuServe and although I type in user name and password, the screen message I get just say "ready" and doesn't connect.
go -> general.useragent.vendorSub & clear that (that is the last giveaway - K-Melon becomes undefined Gecko & spoof gives away no clue.). & Then try with firefox user agent string, cookies & JS...
BTW. At this point Your GRE identifies exactly like & a firefox & it always reacts like a Firefox without extensions.
If that failed try with a Firefox II & tell results.
p.s. German URL does not work. Who cares it is their visitors that are warded away). - But it is definitely not a K-Meleon fault.

Guenter,
That's weird because KM 1.0.2 works at that login, but KM 1.5.2 does not. I'll try FF 2 next to see what happens then. Tks.
This is reaching a point of real concern for me. I've been running through my list of financial institutions and finding more that I can connect to with KM 1.0.2 and cannot connect to with KM 1.5.2. The latest is ING Direct.
Just hangs there. I've used default, FF and SM user agent strings. (I use FF 2.xxx in KM 1.0.2). As you suggested I looked at NoScript and AdBlock and took the extreme step of removing both entirely after finding that NoScript had blocked my Chase card login. But neither Citibank nor ING are working right now.
Do a new install where You deselect multi user support. It has profile in install folder. That is independent of all interference from current profiles. That makes sure You have default settings except for User Agent String.
Needs writing rights on install folder - right click change properties of Profiles folder or of whole K-Meleon install folder.
You suggested it can be JS related.
BTW did You have a look into error console2 when You tried?
I mentioned all, JSbridge, noscript. are liekely candidates.
I do not know what helps. You said it works with 1.x. These in post above were the additional plugins in my k-meleon that i use(layers is gone). & I do not think I can access any of the sites.
Make sure to allow all likely candidates such as cookies, js, pics work.
Spoof firefox...
Check on browserspy.dk that all works the way You want & then try at the real sites.

Guenter,
-------------
Test Result
Generic JavaScript support No
Support for no script tag No

Browserspy says no Javascript, but when I look at both Privacy ToolBar and Preferences, Javascript says it is enabled?
Can't be the firewall, as javascript works in KM 1.0.2????

Can't be the firewall, as javascript works in KM 1.0.2????
Firewall can be configurated to allow 1.0.2 execution but not new installation of 1.5.2.
Add K-Meleon 1.5.2 exe file to trusted/secured application list.
desga2,
Tried that (Comodo firewall), didn't work. Took the extreme step of removing the firewall entirely, checking for registry entries, rebooting and running KM 1.5.2 without a firewall. Could not login to ING DIRECT... message still said Javascript needs to be enabled. Is there a problem with privacy toolbar and KM 1.5.2? (as in giving the wrong message about javascript being enabled.???
Generic JavaScript support Yes
Support for no script tag Yes
You have either a wrong setting or a broken install.
Create a new install - maybe use German installer and change language to English
That is the only major difference between Your install and mine.
Means I also have Profiles in install directory.
p.s. Sometimes something breaks.
Guenter,
I did a new install, still have the problem. Did not use the german installer, guess that is the next step. Wrong setting? Ideas about what that might be?
Spoof Firefox is the only K-Meleon setting to change. & I assume You did that.
No or little idea what to try next.
Maybe change properties of new K-Meleon folder. To give K-Meleon admin privileges in his own folder. Or check whether You fire wall or virus software interferes with the later, new 1.5 install. Which can be the cause for problems.
p.s. I was only jesting with the German installer. They should all work the same. The national sub versions were made from the same en-US prototype by the KMPackager (a program & script collection) on the day the release was build.

Guenter,
I fixed it with a fresh install and a careful copy of everything that I wanted from the older version. I screwed up something, somewhere, but what I'll probably never figure out. Not KM's fault, but my own. <wince> Anyhow, much thanks for putting up with my BS here and all's well, that ends well... I guess.
Sorry.

Browserspy.dk is a good URL to find the reason for such problems.
You fixed it when You knew.
& A solved problem is a good problem.
p.s. prefs.js or the dll that handels script broken = my guess.
Guenter,
Yes, your Browserspy link was the key to figuring it out. After experimenting with different installs, FINALLY one worked and that DK site let me know I/You had succeeded.
