i'm running windows XP home edition thru earthlink(connecting thru proxy) intel pent4 dell demension 4500s series. I installed k-melon 8.2 but it did not launch after instalation. Anybody have any ideas?

1.) check whether firewall will give k-m permission to start.
(happended to me and at least one more that we forgot)

2. ) also look into process view - if he started.
(next to do if broken browser is assumed)

1. ) else try delete folder profile.
2. )else try reinstall.

re-check whether You had the right to install (were adnministrator wile doing it)

i don't use a firewall and yes i was the administrator. not sure what u mean by "if he started"? thanks thou

"if he [browser] started" is what Guenter meant. ;) I was surprised to read there that you don't use a firewall in this day and age of hackers? Of course I have a different setup from you more than likely as I run my own internet network, but I have to run a firewall and a triple-protected server programme (which programme I don't reveal for security reasons) as I have a hack attempt done on me at least once a minute.

So I like to try and see everyone run with at least some sort of firewall protection, see? ;) And good luck on getting K-Meleon running my friend! Sorry I couldn't offer any help but you're in the best of hands with my buddy Guenter here!

a browser is = "he" in German, (not "it" like in English).
did You check proy settings and whether - k-m installed badly?

(with 0.8.2 i had my share of bad installs)

if nothing of the things i mentioned helps: i will be out of ideas.
