Installing KM on Windows 95A [Version 4.00.950] I get on running:
Error Starting Program
The K-Meleon.exe file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6491
Then another error box below it:
X A device attached to the system is not functioning
I do have this file though:
Directory of C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
MFC42 DLL 940,304 05/08/97 10:18 mfc42.dll
PS I noticed on installing kmeleon06.exe that if you have a custom install and don't have "K-Meleon loader" ticked and click <next> and then <back> it for some reason puts a tick in the loader box whereas the other settings stay as you set them when you <next> and <back>

Commands to add/delete .dll or .ocx files
To add .ocx and certain .dll files, it will be necessary to restart your computer in DOS mode and run
WINDOWS/SYSTEM/REGSVR32.EXE from the command line. The following are the commands and switches you
will need:
regsvr32 [/u] [/s] [n] [i [:cmdline]] dll name or ocx name
/u (unregistered server)
/s (silent; display no message boxes)
/c (console output)
/i Call dll or ocx install passing it an optional [cmdline]; when used with /u calls dll or ocx uninstall
/n Do not call dll RegisterServer; this option must be used with /i
Ok i fixed the problem but I just copied the file into system folder... did i have to use the stuff above?

I have exactly trhe same error message in a certain computer (hebrew windows 95/IE5.5/no Office). The size of mfc42.dll is exactly the same. Its version is:
The DLL's version is 4.21.7160 . Product version: 5.0.0
Note that it is already registered. The error message is not about not finding the DLL: it is about not finding the specific missing export.
