when loading really slow pages, it would be nice, in addition to the animated pipe at the top, for some indication that the program is doing something. I've wondered a few times if I'd actually pressed return or not...

Agree,
A lot of time I was wondering if I pressed a link or not
Changing the mousecursor more often to an hourglass would
help
