I'm just messing around with a Windows 95 VM and seeing what browsers still work on it, but with k-meleon I get a page fault illegal operation error whenever I try to navigate to a page. The toolbar buttons are also missing. Any ideas - or does it just fundamentally not work?
Using build 1.54, and I've:
1. Installed K-Meleon 1.54
2. Copied over Shlwapi.dll 5.50.4522.1800
3. Copied in comctl32.dll through DOS 5.00.0910.1306
4. Ran VC6RedistSetup.exe (it was German even though it was from the MS site...) and then Vcredist.exe.
4. C:\Program Files\K-meleon\kplugins - Rename rebarmenu.dll and bmpmenu.dll to fix menu bar (http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?1,43582) - did not work.
I'll admit, this is an ambitious exercise of mine :p

AFAIK 1.5.4 was one of the last k-m versions to sort of work on Win95. BenoitRen was a Win95 user & had a home page about what programs worked and how toos under Win95.
VC6RedistSetup.exe alone was not sufficient. That was for k-m 0.9 based on Mozilla 1.7.x.
If I remember right: You easiest installed IE 5.5 SP2 to get the needed altered dll.
K-M 1.0 to some early 1.6beta were created with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET version 7.1 („2003“) / VC7.1 (Visual Studio 2003) by Dorian. The needed MS redist (Microsoft .NET (Framework) 1.1 or so) will AFAIK not install on Win95 but IMHO the dll will run in K-Meleon install folder when copied there. The needed *71.dll files were part of the K-Meleon 1.X install setup/pack by alain and installed in k-m folder when necessary.
