Hi guenter - I've just figured what youse are talking about--my German is very small and a long time ago!

Anyways, the problem is:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: http://www.drivehq.com/
Line Number 547, Column 100:

The segment in question is
http://www.drivehq.com/help/features/whatsNew.aspx?service=all&=all

And the page header is:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">;
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">;

Most--I won't say "good"--XML parsers treat this type of error as fatal, and simply stop with the error message. IMHO, they should continue and list all errors.

I've noticed similar XML parsing errors in 1.6.0b2, and I'm using 1.6.0b2.5 now.

If you change to FF user agent, the error disappears--but (like IE) FF was never fussy about silly coding errors.

Default and SeaMonkey produce the error.

As for why changing the user agent "fixes" the problem, only Mozilla knows. I cannot see any way the user agent can affect how the client-side parser works. Unless Gecko looks at the user agent and changes its error-tolerance? But that's dumb!

Greetings from Au to De.

Gordon.

Hi Gordon, basically I told him that he must fake another browser ID, else they send him to a page that is for another browser ( I assume IE ) and is ill formed XML like You said.

That error ceases to be a show stopper when You fake Firefox and is not even present with GRE of 1.6+ plus fake UserAgentString.

Then I told him to perhaps update to 1.6beta and how to get mostly German menues.

Greetings to Australia and sorry that I did not see any reason to write English for a guy that has a German IP. German is so much easier for me.
