Hmm... to 1), that's interesting, that you have that backspace prob in KM1.6 version, it was supposed to happen only in gecko1.8....

http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?1,111417

Anyway, if that happens click the "Forward" button, with some luck your text may be still there, but perhaps depends from cache settings and/or site.

And if you remember it while typing, a quick on-the-fly workaround is to press SHIFT+Backspace for deleting. For a permanent solution you can remove the default "Go Back" shortcut from the "Backspace" key:
Edit > Configuration > Accelerators
Add this line and restart:
VK_BACK =

Better but slightly more complicated: Remove that shortcut in all profiles by default and instead of "Backspace" use "SHIFT-Backspace" as shortcut for "Go Back". For this edit the file K-Meleon\defaults\settings\accel.cfg and change
VK_BACK = ID_NAV_BACK
into
#VK_BACK = ID_NAV_BACK
SHIFT VK_BACK = ID_NAV_BACK

By the way there's another default shortcut for flipping back pages: ALT+Left Arrow. Works fine, you just need both hands for it, unlike SHIFT+Backspace. At least on my notebook ;-)

PS: There is brandnew beta version for KM1.6 on the download page, if you'd like to check it out.

1) As siria said, I don't known about this problem in 1.6, I think this is fixed with Gecko 1.9.1.x, but FB and Gmail are a shit websites.

2) I known about it, we have a bug report opened about this problem to clear History in 1.6:
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/bugs/viewbug.php?bugid=1202
We are working to fix it in next release.

desga2,

Don't know what I did, but initially I had the same issue where History was not cleared... something changed, but I do not know what or how it happened. Now history is permanently clear... can't make settings stick in Edit/Preferences/history.

If I put in check mark in Keep a list of all pages visited in the last say 2 days, when I reboot the checkmark is gone and their is no history at all. Same with URL history.

Have a 1kb History.dat file in profiles that does not change in size.

Thinking of the dropmyrights thread or such...

Try with a new profile.
History is not working fine in Beta1, wait to Beta2.
