Hello,

I am on Win XP SP3, and have been using K-Meleon 1.5.4 for about a year. I connect to the internet via a LAN-network-cable. (direct internet connection)

I have no VPN installed and haven't done anything to the old dial-up connection settings for a long long time.

A month ago, I suddenly started to get this Error Message: "Error 623 The System Could Not Find the Phone Book Entry for this Connection"
when opening websites. It is really annoying, it comes up 20 times in a row and I have to click "ok" to get rid of the notice box all the time. But if did it finally, the webpage does load all right. Been waiting for it to vanish as it started, but it doesn't.

Have googled this, but all advice focusses on a different Windows version (98 / 00) and dial-up, neither of which I use.

Any help??

Any hints? Still get that, no matter if I use WLAN, UMTS or LAN cable.
All internet solutions seem to apply to Win 2000, but I am on XP. Cheers!

Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window

General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
Click Connection tab and select the Radio Button
_{(•) Never dial an internet connection}

If doesn't help, then try to clear this registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\RAS AutoDial\Default

I don't have IE installed, so I will try the regedit.

I'm really curious to know how you haven't IE installed under XP SP3.

Have you uninstalled it ? I didn't know it was possible.

You can access to Internet Settings by using 'Configuration panel'.

When you have a such problem, have a look to the process list before closing the message. You perhaps have some spyware which is running, and try to connect to telephone number.

rodocop's first description does not require IE browser.

You can get there from Control Panel > Internet Options from any WinXP computer.
