1.6 beta spellchecker problem

I have downloaded the beta KM & it looks great. I appear to be having problems with the spellchecker though. The dictionary is in the folder but I don't seem to have the plug-in to run the dictionary. I downloaded the dictionary from here.

I can confirm the problem too.

p.s. My wild guess - spelltest.dll has some imports from xpcom.dll (which is GRE version specific) so spelltest cannot work.

OK, thanks Guenter. I suppose there is no work-around to the problem then?

I think spelltest.dll is a mark307's kplugin:
http://mark307.hp.infoseek.co.jp/
Mirror on kmext:
http://kmext.sourceforge.net/initiative/mark307.htm

Have someone his mail or can contact with he?
His website is down since October 31th.

Maybe Hao has contact to Mark307.

BTW. I downloaded most of what was on Mark307's homepage when I heard the bad news that it will stop to exist. I am very fearful in such cases that something is lost.

If we must do it without Mark307's help. I have the source for spellcheck 0.7. Its GPL2 & includes a make file for Mingw. Do we know PPL that can compile with MinGW?

Or can someone compile with another compiler for example Visual C by Microsoft? Or just knows how. Command line version of VC 7.1 (Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003) and VC 2005 Express should be still in the net, so...

Else it would be sufficient to tell me how 2. I own a VC7.1 and a VC8 version. smiling smiley

Why would you pay for a compiler, with perhaps problems to compile.

Install MingGW smiling smiley

On my PC not only the spelltest.dll which is responsible for the K-Meleon integration seems broken but the whole GRE part of the Spellckeck.

So we need VC for the GRE part grinning smiley

I don't know if it's just me, but the spellchecker appears to be partly working again in Beta2. there's a dotted red line under each occurrence of 'spellchecker' in this post. grinning smiley

I don't know if it started working again with the new beta (I installed this over the top of Beta1) or if I may have done something else to resurrect it.

No corrections are offered but it's nice to see the real-time checking back again.

Oh and Merry Christmas to all on the K-M forum!

Oh and Merry Christmas to all on the K-M forum!

I think it was merely forgotten to add the spellchk.dll in 1.6.b1 or deleted it by mistake.

LOL! I'm messing a bit with that thing, just for curiosity, and tried to add a word to "en-US.dic", the big dictionary - and now that word is actually NOT underlined anymore, but instead **ALL** others!! grinning smiley grinning smiley grinning smiley

Edit: Perhaps it would be possible to use a macro for adding new words...
Oh well, probably all nonsense if clueless me thinks about such stuff, hopefully some expert will come up with a fully functional extension, instead of bothersome workarounds smiling smiley

Unlike other Kplugins AFAIK spelltest.dll references *.h's from Mozilla GRE.

I, an absolute user type, came 6 errors close/away to a recompile with SDK 1.9.
IMHO a solvable problem for any that can do programming in c++.

Halb so wild.

I made quick dirty hack with the spelltest plugin for that can work with k-meleon 1.6 beta2.

An issue is found what a popup menu appears near the mouse pointer always. I guess the plugin cannot acquire accessible object.

I wish this is useful for the moment.

@ Mark307

I have installed the files (DLL & KMM) as instructed and deleted the two dat files. When I have a word underlined in red I tried Cntl Q and I get a menu in a popup which has 'dictionaries', an arrow, and 'Disable spellchecker'. The arrow adds 'en-US' with a check (grayed out) and 'Set Default'. How do you get suggestions for the word and how you select a word?

I have Siria's Spellpref.kmm installed, but I don't think I made any changes with it.

I am on Win 7 32 bit ops sys and KM 1.6.0 Beta2.

@JamesD
Sorry. That instruction is obsoleted. Just copy dll and kmm (if necessary) is proper way for it, install Seamonkey's spellchecker component is unnecessary.

If you installed Seamonkey's spellchecker component, I suggest you to reinstall KM (or to fix manually).

If you did not, I guess a text cursor is on correct word or blank. This suggestion works only when a cursor is on misspelled (underlined) word.

regards.

Just an info about dictionnaries location.

You always can add this pref :

user_pref("kmeleon.plugins.spelltest.dictDir", "Z:\\usr\\share\\hunspell");

In this sample, the folder is the one to use under Linux to use OpenOffice dictionaries.

Something nice, before having add the pref, Default lang was en-US (the one in K-Meleon dictionaries folder, After, it automatically set fr-FR by default. I think it because I had changed the Language in F2 -> Page Display -> Languages (added French/France, et set it first.

No.

The GRE version used in this CCF has no basic spelling support (prerequisite) & the kplugin & kmm is for integration with K-Meleon standard macro language.

CCF uses Lua macro language.

I think this can be adapted, copy from K-Meleon 1.6b2 \components\spellchk.dll file and \dictionaries folder to CCFME and copy mark's spelltest.dll kplugin in CCFME \kplugin folder.

Modify the textbox context menu to call the spelltest kplugin. I think this is made with LUA code.
