How can I clear Url bar history and Last sessions automatically on exit or startup?

Similar way than KM 1.5.x, for delete URL bar History go to menu:
Tools -> Privacy -> Clear Data -> Clear Automatically... -> and check the option you want in "Address Bar History".

To delete last session there is a macro in MacroLibrary to do it in 1.5.x but this could work in 1.6.

Only change the lines that begins with:

$_KMVersion=="1.5"?

To this other with 1.6:

$_KMVersion=="1.6"?

Unfortunately this way (Tools -> Privacy -> Clear Data -> Clear Automatically... -> Address Bar History checked) doesn't work for me. I used this option in K-M 1.5x and it worked always. Maybe is it a bug?
In K-M 1.6 it is named "URLBarHistory".
I will try to edit MacroLibrary for deleting last Sessions.

I think it is called "Address Bar History" in the Clear Automaticly box.

You are right - In Clear Automatically it is named Address Bar History. But in Clear Data - URL Bar History. Maybe I don't understand something...

I can only clear the History from the preferences dialog (F2). The menu command doesn't work for me.

Maybe it is related to your problem.

Just in case not every reader may be fully aware of this:

The "a3" means it is an alpha version, in the middle of development yet, far from being finished. Quite some things do not work yet, that's perfectly normal, and there's already quite a list in other threads here...

Today's browsing K-Meleon forums is unbelievable slow. What's happened?

I have tried the clear history from TOOLS - PRIVACY both ways and I still have the same size history.dat file. I am using 1.6 a3.

Methods:
First I copied history.dat to a safe place. Then I used TOOLS - PRIVACY - CLEAR DATA - CLEAR AUTOMATICALLY - HISTORY. I put check in box for CLEAR ON SHUTDOWN. I closed KM and and looked at history.dat in profile. It was the same size as the backup copy. I opened KM and closed again - no change in file size. I opened KM and could see history all the way to last week.

Second method was to use TOOLS - PRIVACY - CLEAR DATA - CLEAR HISTORY. I then closed and reopened KM and I still have all my history.

I am on XP-SP3 and the profile is with the program. I do have write authority to the profile. I do not, as a general practice, clear my history so perhaps I did something wrong?

Update:

I have tried the URLbar or Address Bar history automatically and that does work.

Update2:

Clear cache automatically works. I don't keep passwords and I prefer not to clear all cookies. I use Cookie Monster for that.

So the one not working is history.

I have exactly the same problem as described by slayer above.
I can clear Address Bar history only with F2> Privacy&Security>History Tab> Global History> Clear Button.
Tools> Privacy> Clear Data> Clear URL Bar History doesn't work for me.
Tools> Privacy> Clear Data> Clear Automatically...Address Bar History checked doesn't work too ( regardless clean on startup or shotdown).
After trying clear automatically or clear URL Bar History I have all my previously visited web sites in my address bar.
Thank you for helping Clear Last session automatically. It works.

Update.
I'd like to add, that F2> Browsing has wrong layout of Default Browser section. At least for me.

Can you explain it, what is wrong layout for you?
SetDefault.exe application is from 1.5.0, isn't updated yet in this alpha but work in 1.6. (Only texts with version references are changed)

Yes, I use KM in portable mode with profile.ini inside KM folder. Moreover I renamed existing Profile folder and KM created a new one, but the problem left as I described before.
About F2> Browsing> General tab wrong layout.
In General tab window there are rectangles:
"OPEN"
"Default Browser"
"At Startup"
"When opening new windows/tabs"
The rectangle "Default browser" lies partially over rectangle "Open" and isn't resized
when KM window is resized.

Exactly same problem.

No problem for me in Win2K SP4 but it happend in WinXP SP2.

I can confirm no problem using Windows 2000 SP4.

Depends on the Windows theme for XP users. Using the default XP theme produces the misalignment error. Using Windows Classic on XP, the error is gone. This is new to 1.6a. Wasn't a prob with 1.5.x

I have dual boot machine: Windows2000 SP4 and WindowsXP SP2. I can confirm too that on W2k no problem with layout. It happens on WinXP regardless of themes default or classical.

Humph. KM 1.5.4 Desga2's update
XP PRO SP3

History doesn't clear using Privacy Bar setting to clear upon exit. Can clear it manually though by clicking on the history icon. However, as everyone else has discovered, when I run Klassic, using the Privacy Bar setting to clear upon exit, it does clear upon exit. Don't know why the difference.

Well, I just checked my theme on XP-SP3 and it is a custom. I think the only thing I changed was the background picture, but I don't remember what theme I modified to make it. See here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1522294/themeOfXP.jpg

If the theme matters, do we have a confirmed bug for KM?

i don't think the chrome has been finalised in any way in the alphas but should be reported as a bug just in case
