A weird thing happened today - I went to open KM and nothing happened, even the icon had disappeared from my launcher and been replaced by a generic windows one. So I went to my file manager and there was k-meleon.exe weighing in at 2k and with the generic windows icon. However further down the list was k-meleon.exe_ which I renamed and the problem was solved.

Fair enough, I can accept that a profile may be corrupted for one reason or another but the name of the exe ??? I had closed KM normally, no crash or reboot.

Any ideas anyone ?

it probably didn't close, sometimes this happens..a plugin may prevent kmeleon from exit properly even though the window will close but the process is running in the background and then you shut down the comuter and windows forced a kill on the process.. or there was abd shutdown in windows and it renamed the exectuable but still it's very odd that the exe gets renamed..normally the renaming done by scandisk happens to profile files.

This also can be indicated a hard disk problem, check your disk with scandisk or chkdsk.

it could well have been a HD problem - there are a few bad sectors on my main drive ...

But hasn't recurred !
