http://two.xthost.info/kmupdate/K-Meleon1.5.3-1.8.1.23.de-de.7z = Download.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090825 K-Meleon/1.5.3 = Fun build GRE for use with K-Meleon 1.5.3.

Its packaged as 7z with a German 1.5.3. Change to en-US or install whatever language pack You need. Free use. You can also scavange the GRE to make updates 4 yourself or others. The download package contains a skin in beta stage.

Use on YOUR own risk. And if You use the GRE to update Your own version - make sure You read and understood desga2's update tutorials - no support or warranty what so ever.

The build uses a profile.ini to make a separate profile in install folder.
Grant writing privilege to profile when You are not working as admin.

Just as reminder. Use virus scan on the download - these are dangerous times. I am just another stranger for You.

K-Meleon folder will contain my mozconfig to experiment, for reference, & for info, not all works like official but most does.

Since I build with free components I can not make all the official ways/params.

This update build is not much but better than nothing smiling smiley

Read:

1.) http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/BuildKMeleonDistribution

2.) http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/KMeleonCVS

You can download a ready to start build setup with recent source code for K-Meleon 1.6 beta versions from http://dhost.info/kmeleonskins/.k-meleon-build.7z

There are some changes by deadlock in the code and project files to make it build.
So it is not exactly like the code that You would download from the CVS.

Please be aware that the k-meleon.exe from compiling the code at

http://dhost.info/kmeleonskins/.k-meleon-build.7z

does not result in a stable exe and that I have given up trying to get it stable.

Really for me Im lazy at doing all that.
I just replace the files of FF3 that are the same name files that are in KM.
Info at:
http://home.dbdbdugbug.operaunite.com/Projects/content/KMFILES/Z_UPDATING.html

K-meleon is depending upon FF3 types & they are getting ready to end the 3 types soon.

Getting KM to run on FF 12+ types for me is not on my list to do. I run on WIM ME,
It won't work on the system.

There is a Arora.
"Arora uses the QtWebKit port of the fully standards-compliant WebKit layout engine. It features fast rendering, powerful JavaScript engine and supports Netscape plugins."

If they did it, K-meleon might work like it. That is what I would aim at!!
http://code.google.com/p/arora/

BUT! On test it is about the same as KM 1.54 on the HTML5 test it is a 101.
http://html5test.com
My KMdb1.7 gets a 178 - 177

And the security test is about a 6 - 7.
http://www.browserscope.org
My KMdb1.7 gets a 10

That test is on the Arora 10 for WIN.
But this is just a thought for down the road!

dugbugoffice2,

Without a developer willing to make KM use Gecko 2.xxx, your idea is a good one. I would add that it would work even better if KKO's scripting language could be adapted for such a port. (I recall posts saying that would be possible, but I'm no coder, so, just guessing here.)
