OK. I would like to add a main menu item, right between Tools and Help. Not sure of how to use the new macro language to accomplish this, so a sample would be greatly appreciated.

You can find an example in groups.kmm (from 1.1.x)
$_g="&Groups";
setmenu(Main,popup,$_g,"&Tools");
$_g is the name of the menu (what appears)
the last parameter is the menu name where to insert before
After, look at the same kmm file to see how to include entries in this popup menu (but there are many and many samples for that, instead of inserting in main menu).
