I am using blackbox as shell for my Windows-XP system and for this shell there is a plugin available named MemShrink. In combination with a timerplugin Broadtimer it can be programmed to clear the cachememory what is not used anymore of the Blackbox-shell every xxx milliseconds/seconds/minutes.
It would be nice to have a sort of plugin like MemShrink for K-Meleon also because K-Meleon is used a lot on small and old systems with low ram.
When K-Meleon is minimized on the taskbar, it is only using 1-2 mB of ram normally and when maximised it is between 5-25mB normally, depending on the number of tabs etc....
So I think a MemSchrink-plugin for K-Meleon could save the small-ram-users between 5-10mB and may be more.
To give you an idea about the shell; The windows-Explorer Shell is using between 8-20mB normally, depending of how many tasks open ofcourse and how heavy they are. The Blackbox shell is normally between 1200-1600kb on my system and with the MemSchrinkplugin enabled it is only 412kB, without loss of speed or functionality!!
So at the end I am using a shell now what is faster and with only 412kb of memory instead of 8-20mB with the Windows-Explorer Shell.....
