Hello

I have tried out the new beta build 44 and all seems to work quite fine but.... Sun Java 2 does not load, I get an message about missing plugin.

Is there a quick fix for this or must I wait for the next beta releas ?

With K-Meleon 0.6 there is no problem activating Java 2.

If you have JRE 1.3.* or greater already installed, there is an easy trick to get KM to utilize Java 2. Check out this thread:

It turns out that it's a mozilla 0.9.9 issue (which makes sense that it applies to km 0.6.5)

Also, I don't think the beta had a preference that we used in the previous release to scan for the Java install. You can add this preference to the prefs.js file:

user_pref("plugin.do_JRE_Plugin_Scan",true);

to automatically scan for your Java install.

Unfortunately, Mozilla changed their Java handling in the most current releases so some of this is in a state of change.

Well there's a reason why it's not so readily available, it's a beta, and the developers do not want people downloading and installing it without first realising the issues involved in installing the latest beta.
If you want to become a beta tester, then the developers mailing list is a good place to start:
