Converted Yogis original 25-kB bmp manually into a 16-color bmp with irfanview, and now it's just 3.2-kB bmp tongue sticking out smiley grinning smiley

Just wonder which original 25-kB bmp are you referring to?

As for 16-color BMPs, imagine how nice skin they would make. tongue sticking out smiley

And, also, this image is a little tricky as it has 2 or more colors to make transparent. Look at this zoomed image. There are various greys to remove:

If you want to preserve the quality of the image it is better to keep the grey but transparent:

I don't know if IrfanView is the proper tool for doing so.

I am sure that I don't understand graphics. I think I will wait until Dorian publishes something.

@Yogi, I don't see that degradation.

First of all, that BMP alpha channel is fully black, therefore, "all" should be transparent and it isn't. In other words, the alpha channel in that file is doing nothing.

Said different, for the grey around each icon, there isn't a grey equivalent in the alpha channel, so it hasn't half transparency.

So I went the easy way and I considered everything outside that turquoise as transparent. And in my opinion is better. I don't feel looks better with a half transparent grey surrounding the icon confused smiley

We should ask who did it winking smiley

P.S.: I did with photoshop that one, not with IrfanView.

Sorry, wasn't yours but James. See previous page.
For that green mini thingee 16 colors sure are enough :cool:

James, to get transparency look at johns irfanview screenshot.
- Open any pic with IrfanView
- "SaveAs", choose png,
- click on "options" beside
- check "transparent" checkbox
- save OK.
==> Now it pops up the image again for clicking on the desired transparent color - just click on the toolbar background.

I think I still don't understand the size limit.

For example, why the following can't create tools of height 64 and 64x64 icons:

{
	"version":1,
	"width":64,
	"height":64,
	"lists": [
		{
		"images": [
			"toolcold.png"
			],
		"commands": [
			"ID_NAV_BACK",
			"ID_NAV_FORWARD",
			"ID_NAV_RELOAD",
			"macros(ESC_stop)",
			"ID_NAV_HOME"
			]
		}
		]
}

All sizes I try, the buttons, the icon image of that button, have a fallback to 16x16...

You missed the new toolbar size setting in kmpref, where you choose the skin

Ok.

Missed, yes. Or I didn't, but I thought it was in relation to the skin.cfg default size.

So, in my example, the 64 x 64 defaults the size of the icons without further settings, unless icons are set like:
			{
			"name":"toolcold1.png",
			"width":6,
			"height":6
			}

...but anyway or other, they are stretched or not, in relation to the settting you told

I know I wrote about 6x6, just was an example.

If nothing comes..., I think I finally understood XD

For all who use use Notepad++, try this:

@Siria, you should use the ascii version to work on Windows 98.

It is not strictly coloured, but helps a little.
