Please use a fresh installation, not update previous cp versions.

Note that you need the 7zip program to unzip it!
And the file on the "mirror" site has the 7z-file wrapped into a normal "zip"-file, perhaps for server permission reasons, no idea?

Thanks siria. But I am looking for the newest version that Guenter mentioned in
this thread http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?1,110409
Here is the full sentence
How I transferred my passwords from 1.5.4 to the latest 1.6.b4. version by desga2 that tests the pref panel.
That is a beta. Or did I goof and Guenter means pre beta?

I'm pretty sure the b was a typo and he meant cp4, since I haven't read of any other yet, and a beta would start with b1 again... let's say 99% sure, that leaves 1% open grinning smiley

I noticed a missing setting in Preferences panel under Privacy & Security > General

K-Meleon 1.5.4

K-Meleon 1.6 preBeta

In previous 1.6 versions this setting is missing, too. Could someone confirm this or tell what ist the reason?

This is due to network.cookie.cookieBehavior pref not use more the 3th value (p3p):
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Cookies_Preferences_in_Mozilla

This files in \components aren't included for Gecko 1.9.x:
p3p.dll
p3p.xpt

For this the preference controls are hidden.

Almost this xul file isn't more include in \chrome\embed.jar file:
chrome://communicator/content/permissions/cookieP3P.xul

But I think that this settings really never worked in K-Meleon.

Seamonkey 2.0.x have same cookie preference options than K-Meleon 1.6.x. (No p3p options)

On a positive note: While searching some of my 'lost' prefs for transfering to KM1.6, and searching in the default/prefs folder, I've stumbled again upon some very handy 'new' prefs (from guess jsnj) smiling smiley They already work in KM1.5x long since, but aren't on the defaults pref list yet, so can't be found in about: config:

pref("kmeleon.plugins.macros.docinfo.forceTab.images", true);
pref("kmeleon.plugins.macros.docinfo.forceTab.links", true);
pref("kmeleon.plugins.macros.docinfo.forceTab.linkedImages", true);

That's really quite helpful, having that stuff opening in tabs instead of toolbar-less windows, because that also allows to see the source code of that list! A neat list of e.g. image URLs sorted nicely line by line. That's not possible if they are in a window, as I noticed just yesterday. If accessing the source-code by right-click in that small window it only opens the source of the webpage, not that of the (image etc.) list.

Hmm... I remember you already started an extra thread for "new prefs" somewhere, it was a nice list already...

-------

Oh, another important one, works only for gecko1.9:
accessibility.blockautorefresh (bool)

Drove me CRAZY when I yesterday took a look at yahoo mail, they have a "noscript" code in their entry page that makes that the page refreshes every second if a user dares to block javascript on their page!! No escape in KM1.5 yet :-(

@ siria

About this prefs:

pref("kmeleon.plugins.macros.docinfo.forceTab.images", true);
pref("kmeleon.plugins.macros.docinfo.forceTab.links", true);
pref("kmeleon.plugins.macros.docinfo.forceTab.linkedImages", true);

Are prefs from the KM\macros\docinfo.kmm macro file.

Possible options:
A) I can add the prefs to KM\defaults\pref\kmeleon.js to this can be listed in about:config with its default value (false). User can found it more easily and change its values.

B) I can add it to KM\defaults\pref\kmprefs.js and create controls in preferences panel to setting this prefs. But there are two problems here;
1) Where put the pref controls (check boxes)?
  • Browsing -> Window Diversion
  • Tabbed Browsing -> General
2) Add preferences from a macro isn't recommended because you need control if the macro file exist, if macro extensions plugin is enabled and if the macro is enabled (loaded), to change the control status available/disable/hide.

Sorry I don't understand you fine, can you explain it with some simple example?
The source code is the same, only change if you open Page Proporties in a new customized window (false by default) or in a new tab (true).
You can show the source code with right click context menu -> Page Properties -> Source Code option or with Ctrl+U accelerator.

I tried it in this websites: http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/document/autoforwardexample.html
http://diveintomark.org/archives/2007/02/08/howto-block-meta-refresh
and not work for me in KM 1.6 preBeta and Seamonkey 2.0.5, only work in Firefox 3.x.
(I searched in Seamonkey 2.0.5 code and this feature isn't implemented, only is available for Firefox 3.x)

Also note that this pref only work to Meta refresh/redirection HTML methods not for JavaScript autorefresh/autoredirection methods.

I'm sorry desga, but at the moment I'm feeling as if I'm doing nothing but nonsense the last days sad smiley

For example that source-code thing for image lists: It definitely didn't work a few days ago in KM1.6 in the modal window, but today suddenly everything is working fine!!

And the yahoo refresher: Sometimes it auto-refreshes, and sometimes not, but when I first tried that blockautorefresh-pref DID help on yahoo! And now suddenly not anymore - I must be going nuts...
It also seems to depend on the country of the yahoo account, because my .de account has this code on top:
<noscript> <img src="mail?cmd=cookie.setnonjs&.rand=147xxxxxx&mcrumb=6Pxxxxxx" height="1" width="1"><META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="0; URL=http://de.mc453.mail.yahoo.com/mc/showFolder?fid=Inbox&order=down&tt=1&pSize=200"></noscript>
(=URL of the current page)
While my stone age "yahoo.com" mail account has something completely different in the "noscript" tag, without refresh.

And today yahoo also shows this hint, for a split second only:
Quote

Automatic page updates causing problems with your screen reader?
If you are using a screen reader and having problems using Mail, it might help to disable automatic page updates. Please note, this will also disable chat and text messaging within Yahoo! Mail. You can toggle automatic updates on and off using the link below. Disable automatic page updates.
http://de.mc453.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome?noajax

I know this is all completely chaotic and doesn't really help, but am really absolutely confusing myself now! And additional problem that I never know whether something happens because of KM154 or KM16 or win98 or kernelex or the kernelex-version or my customized stuff or the wheather, the moon or... or... *sigh*
Things just need to be tested by several people, sigh.

IMO it's not so critical with macros that are included out-of-the-box in K-Meleon. And no idea if that works, but could the $macroModules-variable be used for checking if docinfo is enabled? But perhaps that's created only later, no idea, really way above my level ;-)

$macroModules is a global var for macro language, I can't access to it from Preferences panel with XUL.

Matt & Desga2,

I don't care where it is placed, so long as it is consistent with use and if that is the reason, then putting it in Window Diversion makes more sense than Tabbed Browsing IMO.

The little login box also is full-page-size, even after toggling those "docinfo-forcetab"-prefs off again.

this is due to this bug:
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/bugs/viewbug.php?bugid=1261

it affects all xul dialogues including extensions not just the prefs panel.
that bug isn't in fireftp but in kmeleon.. i've mentioned before that no extensions-especially xul ones should be tested on km 1.6 until it's at leats rc:
1- it's not easy to identify if the bug is related to the extension on 1.9 or a bug in 1.6
2- fixing an extension for 1.6 alpha could be a waste of time as it might need additional fixes or modifications when the stable is released

i know everyone loves to call the latest release beta or prebeta but that's wrong and misleading to end-users. even with desga's pref updates, there are several core bugs and that makes it strictly an alpha. dorian is the sole person to designate releases and so far dorian never mentioned a beta or prebeta and until that happens, the 1.6 is still an alpha..you can add any release number to it but that won't make it a beta.

there is a massive difference in release standards between open source and commercial software. open source standards are far more strict. a 'stable' in a commercial product can hardly pass for beta in open source. maybe tif this was internet explorer or opera we can easily dub it a beta or even rc and no one would really care and everyone will feel better about a final just around the corner but this is an open source product and calling it a beta or prebeta at its current stage is almost like a lie..especially to those who know opensource

Unless the redirected URL is the SAME as the current page (like yahoo.de after login), so you end up in an endless loop, grr... Which seems even hard to stop if you don't do it immediately! Just a crappy way to force people to enable JS and get access to their computers.
