are os/2 or dos versions possible?

There's a lotta donated 486 around.
DR-DOS 7.03 can be downloaded free.
OS/2 CDs are at auction for 10-20$.

Both are lot more stable on limited platforms than win 3.1 or win 9x

Both can be put on FAT-32 partitions.
Even DRDOS can multitask.

A DOS version would not be possible. K-Meleon relies on Windows functions. In a sense, this is the reason it exists - to create a web browser based on Mozilla (or based on the Gecko rendering engine is more accurate) that uses native Windows code (as opposed to Mozilla which is easy to port to other operating systems).

In the same way, I doubt it would be easy to get it to run on OS/2. It is hard-wired to Windows (95 and above, I believe).

What may be possible would be for someone to create a browser based on the Gecko rendering engine (that Mozilla and K-Meleon use to draw the web pages) for OS/2. However, this is beyond the scope of K-Meleon. It would need to be a whole other project.

And because Gecko is a graphical rendering engine, I doubt it is even possible to make it run under DOS. I could be wrong.

For OS/2, check out http://www.mozilla.org/ports/os2/";]Warpzilla. It's probably not as small and lightweight as K-Meleon, though...

Better may be IBM Web Browser for OS/2.

Apparently there has been http://www.geocrawler.com/mail/thread.php3?subject=DOS+Mozilla%3F&list=120";]some discussion of a DOS port (5 years ago), but it seems to have died out. I guess it wasn't feasible. DOSzilla looks like a dead project.

A text-based browser (like http://lynx.browser.org/";]lynx) would probably run better on DOS-based machines. For OS/2, consider Opera.

I hope all my links work. If they don't, I apologize for the messy post :-)

Few years ago, I used a DOS browser called Arachne. It's free and it works on DOS and Linux. http://www.arachne.cz/
