I really think that K-meleon really needs a complete makeover.
This green color everywhere is sick for the eyes.
Even this website needs a makeover.
Once, there is a makeover then many other people will gladly support this project.
Even the desktop icon needs a makeover

I don't think so.
About the look, I personally like the green colour (I even use a green background for the tool bar), but I agree about the "dinosaur" desktop and top left icon. Maybe a new icon set would be welcomed, but we need an artist to do it and, call it a permission from some of the core developers (we don't want to be working on something that finally it's not going to be used).
If Dorian or KKO confirms the need of it I (and I assume everyone's invited to help) can start working on a new icon set.
About the rest, I only see two major steps for K-Meleon to carry on: to accomodate with GRE 1.9 and to rewrite the favourites plug in, which is full of bugs. The problem is that these two things require very skilled people to work on it and these people are busy with "real life" and have very limited free time to spend in K-Meleon.
K-Meleon is skinable. Users can use another skin, Main icon etc. without any makeover.
This how my K-Meleon looks. main.ico looks like a ball with ring, back.bmp is a color gradiant by siria, buttons are phoenity-aura by Lim Chee Aun and Contributors to the K-Meleon project.
Devs are busy with transit to GRE 1.9 that is also used by Firefox 3.x.
Is a facebook group a development feature?

Current: 1.5.x are versions for GRE 1.8.x. Like Firefox 2.x.
Future: 1.6.x are versions for GRE 1.9.x. Like Firefox 3.x.
Some development k-meleon.exes for GRE 1.9 still have internally 1.5.x strings.
Some of Fred's NIX and Hao's CCF use components from dev versions for GRE 1.9.
Some recent KM 1.6.x downloads have been made available here. (w00t!)
I suggest chrismt should try out one of those KM 1.6.x builds and see what he thinks. the K-Meleon UI in either KM 1.6.x or KM CCF that Hao uses are much different than in KM 1.5.x.
Well, good luck with the 1.6 alpha version, which is even an earlier state than beta versions yet. Just don't be surprised if there are quite some bugs yet in it ;-)

One of the best attributes of KM browsers is that they be custmized to the user's liking. But it seems to me, the simpler it is designed the faster it opens and renders.
The looks do need something. Most browsers change looks sometime. As for the update on the GRE, I run Firefox 3.5+ on my WIN ME with Kernelex & unicows.dll
Seamonkey 2.0 will not work & a few others. If K-meleon 1.6 gets tested can it be tested on Win ME / 98 with Kernelex is see if it works?

Obviously you don't know much about K-Meleon!
Everything you "complaint" about is customizable. You can make it any colors you want, either download ready-made skins/themes, or DIY (its not that hard! I made my first one using god-damn MS Paint on an ancient laptop years ago).
Do you see any "green" here:
(except for the website)
I don't understand what are you talking about. Honestly.
Are you sure you are not talking about IE? ;)

You can change the look. K-Meleon will adopt Windows styles but use it own icons. Alternatively You can use its skin including background.
Yeah.... I mean, I'm the fan(atic) of Early Blue and right now the only color other than Blue on my K-Meleon is the main icon, where if I were to use the blue lizard on the top bar left, you wouldn't be able to see it, so I use the red main.ico instead!
(Also use the Netscape icon in the top right instead of the original "fire-breathing" green, goofy lizard, but I suspect that will soon change as I often rotate out different avi's for that element of KM.
