Banned words

I wrote a long answer, but it says
Quote

A word you have used in your post has been banned from use. Please use a different word or contact the forum administrators.
How can I contact administrators or take a look at banned words list? I cant find the forbidden word by guessing.

Words are in the ban list because someone abused them for spam attacks in the past.

Shoes was banned to stop a scripted attack advertising shoes.

If I had known that one wants to use it for a legitimate post about browsers I would have allowed it again when the spammer was gone. smiling smiley

If You need a word for legitimate post write a BBCode like Begin italics End italics into it tongue sticking out smiley

You can send moderators a mail. Click on link with a moderator's name will yield an address.
Currently active: alain, desga2 & me (AFAIK).

It really shows the banned word for you? To me it shows a huge red block of text, the whole post *scratch*

Just a thought, would it be possible to add a blank left to banned words, and a blank right of it as a second word?

For mailing mods, a little tip: jujuland (alain) is native french, desga2 is spanish, guenter is german ;-) But I guess the best would be to just post here publicly smiling smiley

Hardy is a software copyrights thief that once claimed he developed a K-Meleon version. sad smiley

I still remember the sounds of a few easy Russian words like spassiba and ... from school but I must use the electronic perewodjik to translate them to Russian spelling. sad smiley

I wonder if the shoe spammer has stopped spamming my favorite news sites. Even after lots of complaints and unsubscribes they wouldn't ban that crap.

No idea.

Perhaps the news forum's moderators did not think that shoes can be an un-word in their forum or thought it should not be banned - else their forum technology did not make the option to ban available?

Maybe we are just lucky smiling smiley

K-Meleon Forum has moderators from several countries - so they have possibly more than an even chance that one of them can think oblique enough and thus find a way.

I found the spam. & When I realized I cannot win against a script on an even speed competition I selected a word that was not likely to be used in a software forum normally or often .

Shoes was not an obvious candidate like other banned words such as viagra (& various medicines...), casino (& gambling words) or porn (& other words with sexual connotations), that are more likely candidates. But I tried it anyhow. grinning smiley

For each word a moderator must risk that a decent user that wants to use the word runs into trouble because he does not see the reason immediately. IMHO not all ppl take the problem as gracefully as Win7 or SoerenB (when they find out the reason).

Shoes was a lucky bet that got few complaints so far. smiling smiley

We normally or often talk about software not about news or clothing grinning smiley

p.s. I had a hard time to camouflage all banned words. smiling smiley
