For gnome desktop (I don't know for kde or other desktop), there is an old tool which can be installed and is usable from Windows programs run under wine, I want to talk about: cups-pdf

Look for doc here (in french) or here (in english)

The only problem is that some images aren't saved in pdf for example, this page), but when needed, you can always, exceptionnaly, use Firefox, and the cups feature save in a file and in ps or pdf format.

Cups-pdf seems to be available in all Ubuntus
back to Dapper and in Debian.
.rpm packages are also available, and also
.tgz packages for slackware 10 and 11 from
linuxpackages.net .
It should be usable in all distros, where
Cups and Ghostscript are present or installable.
