Usually Flash 10 should work in most Linux distros.
Installing version 10.1.53.64 is now advisable.

Flashplayer 9 in Linux is only necessary for distros with libc version < 2.4 .

For flashplayer 9.0.277.0 for Linux here the download address,
because it's hard to find :

If Flashplayer 10 does not work, watch if liblcms.so.1 is present in
/usr/lib/ , if it is not you can add it.
It is for example in
liblcms1_1.18.dfsg-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
for Ubuntu and its derivatives, or in
liblcms1_1.17.dfsg-1+lenny2_i386.deb
for Debian.
If you should want liblcms.so.1 alone, you can unpack the .deb
using the program "alien" to make a tar.gz with the command
alien -tc FILE
and unpack then the tar.gz package.
For distros using .rpm packages,
look here :

Alien would also unpack .rpm's.

Can K-Meleon use it ?

For now, I just use the windows modified version which allows to save swf files.

With K-Meleon, I also can only use Flash 10 for Windows
or Flash 9 for Windows.
I have posted the other location to download only
for people, who have to use Flash for Linux with
a Linux browser also and have difficulties with
Flash 10, because they use an older distro with
an older libc.
Flash 9 for Linux is not easy to find.
In such older distros, if liblcms.so.1 is missimg,
this may also be a reason why Flash 10 would not work.

Hey guys! New news about linux and flash? All works fine with you cause i saw in the download page of Adobe( http://labs.adobe.com ) that the new Flash player 10.2 BETA i talked about in General discussion is available for Linux and i believe i'm going to try some distrib soon, idon't know, may be a cooperative linux for beginning...

@Jujuland : Thanks, you are damn right! I was just thinking of those 'cross platform' things and i mess it up. I just have read about Wine and ReactOS. They are quite sharing the same win32 stuff and ReactOS seems to support NT drivers!!! :drool: fine for me! So now i'd rather try httpstreaming perfs with ReactOS, KM and Flash(for windows!) :s Have a nice end of year!!!

Flashplayer 9 will not be updated anymore.
Linux distros with libc version < 2.4
do not work with Flashplayer 10.
(if /lib/libc.so.6 is a symbolic link to
libc-2.3.so or lower.)
This is also the case for Flash 9 with wine.
Updating libc to a newer version is difficult
in many cases without damaging the system.
If it is not possible, it should be considered
to use a more recent Linux distro, to avoid
security risks using Flash 9.
If Flashplayer 10 does not work in a distro
with a more recent libc version, watch if
liblcms.so.1 is present in /usr/lib/ .
If necessary, it can be added as described
in my earlier posting above.

Additional note:

If Flash 10.2 for Linux does not work correctly
in a specific Linux Distro, there may be libraries
missing. Libcurl could possibly not be loaded.

Try to update to libcurl.so.4.0.1 or newer.
Its dependencies are in /usr/libs :

as long as there are symlinks to them, having the

If there should be still more dependency files
missing, you can find them using in a

All this should not be concerning Flash for Windows with wine,
but only native Linux Browsers.
